+37 Internets | Unfortunate, sounds like all they did was get a bit rowdy. No fights or anything like that, just a loud bachelor party. Yashin needed to go where 'he's looked at like a god' I love Yashin's girlfriend's take on it. He's not a lazy primadonna. No no. He's just "misunderstood." Like sitting out in Ottawa for a year cause he wanted more money? That was actually about, uh, the money. See? It's easy to misunderstand! |

+4 Internets | Oilers remove their dick from Buffalo's eye and sticks it in Anahiem's by offering Dustin Penner a 5 year 21.5 million dollar deal. My prediction is Anahiem takes the picks and let's him go. Last edited by Ishad : 07-26-2007 at 01:26 PM. |

+37 Internets | rofl, rape and pillage Klowe, rape and pillage Boy, he best be sure NONE of his players ever reach restricted free agency, cause they'll be getting about 15 offer sheets from around the league. I like this, and would like it even if it was another GM doing it; it's breaking up the old boy's club that the NHL GMs have become. Things are far too friendly in that respect, and admittedly Lowe was very much a part of that with the whole "hey slats I'll lend you Markannen for a season and you give me Nedved for free at the end of it" deal. Anaheim can't match it, no way. Thanks for that first round conditional pick Brian, you can have it back though! I can't fucking wait to hear Burke's public statements about this, should be awesome. I don't much like the signing, though. Too much money for someone who's not proven himself all that much yet. But I do admit that I'm not too familiar with Penner. | Lowe fucked up. All hes trying to do now is fuck with other teams. Id bet top dollar that Burke says see ya later Penner! Burke doesnt fuck around and everyone knows that. Lowe is going to pay Penner, what is it, $4.5m? Thats insane. Penner needs alot of mentoring in his position. Hes a big forward that is good down low. He could have learned alot from Bertuzzi this year with the Ducks, but it looks like now Bertuzzi would just replace Penner with Getzlaf and Perry. |

+37 Internets | C'mon, I don't think it's a great signing, but why would Kevin Lowe have ANY motivation to "fuck with other teams"? His only goal, at the end of the day, is to improve his own team, and that's what he's attempting to do. |

| Making crazy offers like that to RFA's in their 2nd and 3rd years is just insane. He knows the Ducks are close to cap right now and making the offer so that it would put them over the cap if they didnt take the deal. Lowe is lucky Buffalo took that crazy deal for Vanek, but I think this time he lucked out because I dont think Burke will sign Penner for that much and he would rather just take the picks. EDIT: You said it yourself. Hes trying to break up their "boys club" with these offer sheets. Last edited by EmpireF4i : 07-26-2007 at 06:47 PM. Reason: forgot somethin |

+4 Internets | Burke gets a 1st 2nd and 3rd rounder for this. Plus if they give Penner that much you can bet Getzlaf and Perry will want that much or more next year. It's a ballsy move by Lowe but could definitely go either way when you consider how young the kid is. Ducks don't lose much as they added a power forward with Bertuzzi already. No way the Ducks match. |

+4 Internets | Buffalo gives Derek Roy a six year 24 million dollar contract. Am I the only one that look at the contracts handed out this season, is wondering why there was a lockout? Little good it seems to be doing, there seems to be a lot of overpaying going on. |

+37 Internets | So long as salaries don't exceed 55% (or whatever it was) of revenues, then it's not a big problem. It just means revenues are way up, which is obviously a good thing. And if salaries do exceed that cap, the players won't get a portion of the escrow back. The current CBA pretty much guarantees that salary expenditures are capped as a percentage of revenue, which is what the league wanted. I don't see the current situation as a problem. The only big problem I see is the half dozen or so weak teams; they really need to be moved, folded, or something. It's bringing the rest of the league down. Mostly looking at Atlanta, Nashville, Carolina, Florida, Phoenix and to a lesser degree Washington and Tamp. San Jose and Anaheim are alright now, but we'll see if they stay that way if/when the teams aren't amongst the top in the league. |

| Burke makes a comment against Lowe. TSN : NHL - Canada's Sports Leader I still dont think the Ducks will match the offer. Before all this happened the Ducks were trying to get a contract with Penner and couldnt seem to agree. This seems like a way out for the Ducks with a bonus. |

+37 Internets | Hah, he did not disapoint. Burke accusing Lowe of having no class is hilarious. This is the guy, after all, who is largely responsible for the Bertuzzi-Moore incident because of his public and private comments about revenge and justice at the time. He openly encouraged a vigilante atmosphere in the Canucks dressing room. I respect Burke as a GM, but the guy is a first class asshole in every way, and it's comical for him to question anyone else's "class." His "class" nearly killed someone. |

+1 Internets | Burke was definitely mad. Once the Vanek offer was made he knew this could happen with Penner. He has cap problems and promised to give Selanne and Niedermayer time to decide. He says he can understand offering a sheet to an RFA, but he figures he deserved adequate warning? He gets seven days to decide if he wants to match another day or two wouldn't matter. He had the pleasure of bending Lowe over on Pronger and getting a cup out of it. Time to suck it up princess. |
