Somebody tell those ESPN fucks to stop calling it a "no-no". That's the gayest sporting term in existence.

Not only was it an amazing outing, it broke the losing streak and gives the team something to rally around when by some accounts morale was dipping. Way to bust out a legendary performance at a time when it does a ton of good.

If they make it to the series we should all go in and buy a goat or something to sacrifice.

fuck that. They dont need to go. Not a fan of the Sox at all. I have always liked Curt back even when he was in Philly. I tend to focus more on pitchers then hitters. I like a good pitching duel more then a homerun fest.

Eh, I'd think anyone who was a general sports fan would know who is regardless of his MMOness. I'm sure a lot of people here know who Pedro Martinez is too. Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, etc.

Schilling is our ace. He does what any GOOD ace on a good team should do when the team is struggling. Pitch like a champion. What was a little disheartening was that they couldn't score another run at least, but Oakland is a top 5 pitching team and I can't remember the last time we had a day off. If we had a day off before the Yankees series, that whole having to fly a red eye cross country wouldn't of really mattered. But we had played over a week straight. Now we had a Thursday day game and a Friday night game in Arizona. Boston will be fine. A friend of mine who is a die hard Yankee fan said "You have absolutely nothing to worry about. Even if 1 or 2 of your starters go down, your rotation is 7 deep. You have as many as 4 guys who could run for MVP once they start hitting better and you also have the best pen in baseball. 4 games is probably the longest losing streak you'll see all season and it won't happen often."

I pretty much agree with him. Not only that, we have 3 guys who can pitch an ace game in Daisuke, Schill, and Beckett. It's nice to know that Josh Beckett is finally showing some value since we had to trade our would be starting shortstop (Hanley Ramirez) for him.

Beckett apparently pitched a hell of a game tonight, easily in the front for Cy Young.

Both from the team with the best pitching staff of any world championship team in the past 30 years. The '03 Marlins (Willis, Beckett, Pavano before he became chronically hurt, Redman, Penny).

Danny Haren is leading the majors with a ~1.70 ERA (over a full run better than Becket's), although his record is only 6-2. If he keeps that kind of pitching up he'll definitely be in contention at the end of the year.

I saw quite an amazing stat the other day, that the A's team ERA was over 0.5 better than any other team. This, even though two of their starters have been out the whole year, Loaiza and their best pitcher Rich Harden (everhurt =( ) And their best two relievers have been out for the last month or so as well.

Anyways, it was a shame the A's couldn't complete the sweep =p. I'm glad they broke up the no-hitter at least, cause F all the Boston fans who always come to the games in Oakland. It makes me sick, they're usually about as loud as the home fans cause so many come.

Wait wait wait, you're gonna bash the Boston re-plants (Mass people who end up moving to different parts of the country and I know about two dozen who go to Sox games) supporting their team on the road? Who's fault is it that the home team doesn't support THEIR OWN TEAM? This isn't Red Sox/Yankees or even Yankees/D-Rays (it's a known fact that a large populus of people from NY spend time in florida, which is why they have so many fans at d-ray games). You have no right to complain about fans who support their team on the road when you can't get enough of your own fans to drown us out. When I went to the Sox/Rangers games last year, I counted more Sox fans than Ranger fans. That's fucking pathetic. Funniest part, we sat in a group of about 20 people, most of whom had Boston accents (meaning they were recent re-plants who had moved).

Look, I'm all for competitive home crowds and all, but when you can't get people to support your own home team, you have no right to complain about the amount of support a team like Boston gets on the road.

As far as the A's go, their pitching staff is phenominal. The Mets were trying to pry Haren away in spring training/off-season, but Billy Beane wouldn't give him up even for 3 cornerstones and Aaron Heilman (this was just a rumor but I heard from a fairly reliable source that they wanted Haren, but the A's were shopping Harden). The only problem Oakland has is hitting. They could barely score runs against a completely flat Boston squad mainly because their bottom 3 is as sterile as it comes. Kotsay (who's only played like 30 games now) is barely batting .100, Kendall is awful, and they have one more guy who isn't even batting .200. You can only go so far with great pitching. They'll never catch the Angels with that lineup.
