| please stop...you've done more in 2 pages to show why anaheim fans are the most ignorant fans in the league than was necessary at this point. You and the rest of anaheims fans that I had to explain icing and offsides to at the games i went to last year are the reason I passed on the 10 free tickets my company gave me this year. p.s. i just hope you understand why i cut out that one line from your post...its all that was needed |

| I wonder if people actually watched the game...unlike the rest of the series. I laughed my ass off when the guys at SportsCenter said more people were watching reruns of Mama's House than the Stanley Cup Finals game 4. That was just NBC numbers, of course. I'm sure on the CBC in Canada it was like 85% of the country. |

+37 Internets | lol, but that's typically the case with any team. Although Anaheim did have the highest proportion of Canadians in the league, 19 in last nights lineup I believe. Ottawa didn't play that well, but I think it was more a case of Anaheim being just that good. And they've got a scary good team for at least the next 2-3 years. I'd say there's a 50% chance that they win another in the next 3 seasons. Too bad that all indications are that Selanne will retire, to go out on top. I've always really liked him, he's got a great attitude and personality. Kind of ironic that he won a cup with Pronger, as the two of them had some run-ins in international competition. |

| Do Canadians really care that a team has majority Canadian players? Isn't that like saying the USA wins win any team wins the Superbowl or NBA championship? From my experience, most people are fans of teams, not the nationality of players on the teams. |

+4 Internets | Grats to the Ducks. An impressive run to say the least. As far as people crying about a non-traditional market winning, they aren't going to develop a fan base with the team sucking so continued success, not 1 and done shit (I'm looking at you Tampa, Carolina), builds that and is good for the NHL. Anyways, looks like Hasek will decide if he wants to come back in a week. Time to start up an NHL offseason thread. |

| On another note, NHL finals, Saturdays game to be more precise, had less people watching them then a rerun of West Wing. Not so good for NHL. Those teams should all just move to Canada, where people actually care.

+4 Internets | I just don't see how the Wings would have significantly more money under the cap than the Ducks to offer Giguere, and it's going to take that to get him out of Anahiem. Plus if we sign him we'll probably lose either Lidstrom or Zetterberg when their contracts come due. Howard will be a bonifide #1 in a couple of years so we don't need a big name goalie on a multi year deal. It's not like Hasek played poorly this playoffs, sure he made a couple of his usual mistakes, but was solid overall. |

| it's just not a popular sport to watch on tv for the vast majority of people. i feel that way about most sports myself. it's one of those games where you just need to be there for the atmosphere to enjoy it. the one, popular sport that's worse is soccer. how the hell could anyone sit through and entire match on tv? baseball isn't much better. that brings to mind something about baseball players. doesn't it seem a little funny that 90% of the players at a baseball game don't do a damn thing for 90% of the entire game? they just stand around and watch another player or two do stuff. or they sit and watch waiting for their turn to bat. they stand around for the majority of the game time doing absolutely nothing and they get paid millions. yeah that went a little off topic. meh, embrace hockey for what it is and if you're a fan then be a fan. doesn't matter if tv ratings are low or if it's even on tv. eventually it will just be ppv probably and then maybe not that. |

| I just think they removed what was fun and engaging about hockey, the rough play with fighting. they wanted a more finesse game well they got it, at the same time its also like soccer on ice now.... Boring... Face it, violence sells, and this was a major part of hockey. and for the most part in the 90's the sports fanbase was growing, now it seems like its shrinking.

The reason people can sit through baseball and soccer is that they are slow sports. You dont have to watch the entire game or know all the rules/penalties to know whats going on to enjoy it. Hockey has alot of rules, and alot of people dont know whats going on or what play was stopped so they wont watch because they dont want to feel stupid. When I watch baseball, I can do other stuff like work and still not miss anything because the pitcher takes 20 seconds in between each pitch. In hockey, you might miss a hit, or an awesome one timer, or a great save if you blink. | |
