| Yeah nobody went for it in the Barnett fight, but Barnett was still more active and you bashed him as tentative. I was impressed with Barnett's standup, he got some serious whip on those leg kicks for a guy his size. Not to mention the two spinning heel kicks he landed. Hes so comfortable with the fight game its really too bad we won't get to see a Nog rubber match is it? I think its 1-1 right. Maybe some day after the fertitas realize Dana is fucking their company over with his personal opinions. He essentially finished the fight but needed 1-2 more seconds to make Monson quit or get the ref stoppage. Post-fight interview he said Monson yelled at the last second of the round.

+2 Internets | Heavy sparring=) Everyone seems to like the man. As for Barnett, he was far from aggressive. I mentioned his hesitance on the feet for a reason. Monson is a pure grappler, you don't expect a lot from him on the feet. Barnett has good stand up and that's where he should have really exploited his advantage in reach and skill, but made almost no effort to really let go. I did forget to mention his karate chop to Monson's nose on the ground=) That was funny.

| Monson had been pimping his boxing before the Rizzo fight, so while watching I was expecting some bigger things from Monson. He did land a big overhand shot if you remember. Barnett looked highly irritated by it and checked his ear for blood after the end of the round. Every time you thought the fight was about to take off, it seemed like both guys were taking a break. I guess it was a case of neither guy wanting to end up on bottom with their submission games being world class. If Barnett had another second to work that ankle then I think it would have absolved everything

That was funny=) The fact that Monson is 3'5" tall means he's never going to mount much of a stand up attack against someone like Barnett. See the Sylvia fight for example. He just has to hope he lands a bomb. It's got to suck to be one of the flat out best grapplers in the world and be at such a huge physical disadvantage in your weight class against most guys. And Monson is fucking *huge* for a dude who is 5'9". He really should probably drop down to 205, but then if he was cutting he'd probably gas even faster than he does now. edit: Affliction stuff. New article up on Sherdog. Interesting part. Quote:

+2 Internets | OK this is fun. UFC 85 main event originally: Chuck Liddell vs. Shogun Rua. Awesome. Rua injures his knee(again). So Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans. OK, sounds good. Liddell tears his hammy. So Rashad Evans vs. James Irvin. Cool No longer main event, Matt Hughes vs. Thiago Alves added as main event. Also, James Irvin broke his foot. SO! Rashad Evans vs. Luiz Arthus Cane. Umm, OK? Cane was pulled from an under card fight with Jason Lambert for this. But then... Bout Scrapped vs. Not Gonna Happen. Lambert/Cane fight back on. Card for 85 is now finalized for June 7th in London. UFC 85 Main Card Bouts: -Matt Hughes vs. Thiago Alves -Fabricio Werdum vs. Brandon Vera -Michael Bisping vs. Jason Day -Marcus Davis vs. Mike Swick -Nate Marquardt vs. Thales Leites UFC 85 Preliminary Bouts: -Martin Kampmann vs. Jorge Rivera -Ryo Chonan vs. Roan Carneiro -Thiago Tavares vs. Matt Wiman -Jason Lambert vs. Luis Arthur Cane -Jess Liaudin vs. Paul Taylor -Neil Wain vs. Antoni Hardonk Hope we get to see a lot of the undercard. Also, War Marcus Davis!

| I don't like Thiago vs Hughes because both guys could use a win. I guess we'll see what kind of sprawl he really has, but I have a good feeling Hughes will maul him. They should have gave Hughes a pseudo warm-up fight instead of an exciting contender. I hate seeing exciting contenders get thrown back in limbo after getting smashed by a gatekeeper. But I guess if you can't sprawl Hughes, you have no business getting a shot at GSP. So it makes sense to feel him out. Aleks in the united states is great news. When I saw that I was like wow. It piqued my interest more than the fedor sylvia rumors. That is a serious top 10 heavyweight, despite his inactivity. Will be nice to see the fastest heavyweight hands in the world in a major production again. His talent was really getting wasted in Canada.
