I can't believe there isn't more commentary on the free WEC supercard. That shit was the bomb and better than any UFC card i've seen in a long time. There were 5 different fights I was totally psyched for, I don't think that has ever happened for me before.

Maybe my point of view is skewed because I find myself watching this every week because its on for free.

Is the Versus cable channel not available everywhere ? Are people not that interested because the fighters lack the branding of UFC/PRIDE personalities ?

Do you guys who do watch WEC feel that the talent is inferior to UFC etc ?

That Jrock - War Machine fight is probably my fight of the year but before fight night it was easily WEC's Micah Miller - Cub Swanson battle from a couple months back.

The people who did watch this did you check out Filho walking around that field with 3 guys on his back ? Guy is an animal. That fight did not go nor did it end as I had expected, very strange.

I really enjoyed it as well. Was a lot better than most of the previous PPV's I've seen.

Favorite fight was the Jens Pulver vs Cub Swanson fight. Wish it was longer, but after all the shit Cub talked about Jens ducking him, it was a nice ending lol. (I'm sure a lot of that was to just hype up the fight, but maybe not.)

Cant really comment on the quality of fighters in WEC compared to UFC/Pride. Fairly new to following MMA so I havn't heard of a lot of the fighters in WEC.

Hoping for some crossover fights between UFC and WEC soon too. Should be fairly easy to do since Zuffa owns them both.

On another note, Spike will be showing the Ultimate Finale again tonight at 9pm EST/PST.

Oh I also wanted to add Uriah Faber is a cyborg. The last time I was that impressed with a fighter was maybe Shogun at the top of his game in PRIDE. I don't know wtf happened to him in that last UFC fight.

As far as WEC / UFC crossover fights I would LOVE to see the UFC expand its weight classes to what the WEC has. There was I think a bantam fight the other night where the guys were about 130lb ? Loved it.

The Pulver fight totally made up for the iffy ending in the Filho fight. Cub needed to show some more respect to everyones favorite WoW playing, CoD4 sponsored MMA fighter. Can't wait for Faber / Pulver.

I get VS, but it's on a channel that's easy to forget.

Here's a torrent for those who didn't catch it: WEC.Live.12.12.07.Faber.vs.Curran.DSR.XviD-W4F - The Pirate Bay

I thought it was a good card. Any card that has no decision is definitely worth watching imo. I had actually picked Cub to beat Jens, only because Jens' last few fights he was pretty lackluster and one dimensional, and I figured Cub's youth would be the winning ingredient, turns out his youth was his downfall, lol. But it was awesome to see such a quick sub. Not often you see a sub under 1 min of the first round unless it's someone getting caught in a guillotine being too eager.

Faber definately showed why he's the champ. I'm not a huge fan of his, but he was definately in some trouble that first round, but managed to overcome and come out the 2nd ready.

Filho never really impresses me. He's kinda boring to watch but he gets the job done. He very methodical and doesn't mind taking a beating waiting on the right time to move in for the kill. He isn't a very exciting champion/fighter, so I don't think he'll have many fans.

The best fight though was the bantam weight fight where the dude did the WWE suplex on that guy. Man, I was laughing my ass off when that happened. It was probably one of the most awesome suplexes i've ever seen, lol. Plus he was putting a Houston Alexander type beatdown on him in the process.

Overall, was a good card, and I really enjoy the WEC shows. They have some good matches, but I always forget it's on

Ryan Gracie (Pictures) was found dead Saturday in a jail cell at the 91st police station, in Vila Leopoldina, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The 33-year-old Gracie, who fought as a mixed martial artist exclusively for the now defunct PRIDE Fighting Championships and was the brother of Renzo Gracie (Pictures), was arrested on Friday for stealing a car and trying to steal a bike. The fighter had been transported to the station after a toxicological examination held in the Medical Legal Institute.

According to the Secretary of Public Security, the body of Gracie was found around 7 a.m. when police were checking the cells of prisoners. Gracie was alone and was found fallen into a corner.

Experts of the Medical Legal Institute could not be reached Saturday to make the necessary examinations and direct the body of the fighter to the institute. According to his lawyer, Rodrigo Souto, the cause of death has not been disclosed by police.

Gracie was 5-2 as a mixed martial artist. After starting 1-2, including a decision loss to Kazushi Sakuraba (Pictures) in December 2000, Gracie went 4-0. His last win -- and fight -- came on Dec. 31, 2004, when he defeated Yoji Anjo by armbar.

Wow finally caught the WEC event, the Uriah Faber knee while he was standing on one foot, and the german suplex were great.

Was a fun event to watch.

Urijah Faber needs to go over to K1/Yarennoka promotion and fight some lightweights there. I dont see any interesting matchups for him at 155 in the LayNpray UFC.

Cant stand the cage and how its used. Its ruined a lot of great talent. Crocop for one. Fuck why didn't he sign with K1. So greedy.

Its not even wrestlers using LNP tactics anymore, its stand-up fighters too. The cage is LNP center for everyone. You are prolly like WHAT NO WAI!!...Yes wai, check the Tim Sylvia vs Vera fight. Check the Crocop vs Kongo fight. Tell me what those strikers did the majority of the fight. Clinch, and lay against the cage.

Dana White needs to have a talk with his referees. The clinch needs to be broken up VERY quickly.
