Jones was really controlled on the ground and seemed to know how to use all that size and strength. Looked a bit out of his element on the feet, but at least his punches looked fairly straight and not the stupid blind loopy shit most of them have been throwing.

You have to be going out of your way to not like the man. Really comes off as one of those kids that grew up fast and was super gentle to make up for being such an ogre.

Just the way he got all giddy when he learned a new takedown alone should make you love the guy.

35 wouldn't even be so bad if he didn't have all those football miles on him. I mean, Lesnar is 32 but he actually came in to the sport relatively fresh since he's had a lot of time off from fake and real wrestling and didn't actually do either one long enough to get torn apart.

I'm surprised there isn't anyone looking to make an avatar bet on Rogers.

Rothwell v Crocop slated.

If Rothwell gives him absolutely no respect and just rushes at him relentlessly, this is going to look disgusting. We all know what happens when you thai brawl against Crocop and don't play the K1 tit-for-tat striking game with him. Fedor created the formula, Rothwell only needs to copy a fraction of that gameplan to win.

The sad part is this is an attempt to give Mirko a "big name" softball, his next fight after Rothwell would be against a guy with low power like Cain, and then a title shot for Mirko. The belt holder at this time would possibly be Nog, who Crocop can bring a fight to.

None of this is going to happen because Crocop is going to lose to Rothwell unless he pulls a resurrected phoenix card like Shogun did.

Wonder if Cro Cop will push him for 3 rounds.

That would take away some of the pain of Mirko losing. I think him two-hand pushing peoples necks is comedic relief when hes losing a fight.

Honestly, this is probably more of a bone for Rothwell than it is Mirko. I imagine at this point he's more of a long-term investment as a legit HW gatekeeper type than Mirko is as a premier fighter. He's just a name now. And even though a win over him would be meaningless to most die hard fans, it would carry some weight with the bulk of their audience and set Rothwell up as a legit guy for the next big thing at HW to beat up and make a name for themselves.

I'd expect something like a Rothwell win by TKO, then if Duffee gets healthy(his next fight, Buentello at 107, is off due to injury BTW) and beats whoever they put in front of him next he'll get a chance to pummel Ben and be considered the next title contender.

This is why Rothwell was such a huge deal for them and should have been brought in awhile ago. He'll never hold the belt, but he adds depth to the division and he's someone that will stand and bang with anyone and at worst make them look legit against someone who's not just a slug in there. He'll fill the role they wanted Hardonk/Kongo/Herring to fill.

The fact Mirko is fighting Rothwell means they want to keep Mirko in title contention, two fights away from the title at all times. Even if its for the sake of building other guys up, if Mirko gets the W it works out either way. Belt or not, I can see Mirko meeting Nog again. Its one of the the fights hes asked for.

Hes a double standard now, the hype machine is still behind him full force. Lose to Mirko, no big deal! Hes a world class striker, former GP champ!! world class world class (Rogan screaming). Win against Mirko, OMG NEXT BIG THING!!

Its real jokes. Lorenzo was obviously a huge Mirko fan, and you can't fault him for that. He didn't fly to Croatia to do a deal for nothing at Mirko's house. Im sure they hope for some good showings from Crocop.

The other thing is K-1 is pretty big in Australia, and so was Pride. They *had* to get CC on this card. Now they have him and Wandy both on it, the colonists are pleased as punch about this.

If that fight got put together I would seriously think about sabotaging it somehow. Front row seating, and throw a beer in Mirko's face while the ref is checking him.

Is there any particular reason Fedor and Rogers are taking a pic with this belt? It's a non-title fight and Coker says Overeem will be back in the first quarter of 2010...so I'm just curious why they took a pic like this.

WAMMA belt I believe. Fedor holds it. The WAMMA belt is on the line, but Coker isn't promoting it? Thats his choice I guess. Pretty lame though. Affliction promoted the WAMMA belt.

Don't bank on Overeem coming back first quarter of 2010. That sounds WAY OFF considering Overeem is booked till first quarter 2010. Im going with: not happening. Unless Coker found a pile of money to throw at Overeem to give Fedor some legitimate competition. Overeem said he wants Fedor in Japan, not Strikeforce.

Bas Boon and Overeem have made a bunch of Dream/K1 nuthugging comments in the past 30 days. Guarantee Overeem reports an injury from the K1 GP and can't fight in Strikeforce, but magically fights 2 weeks later in Dream. Looking forward to more awesome Overeem interviews!
