Nog's fight against Sapp is legendary, definately a must see. Also worth bearing in mind that at the time of the fight Bob Sapp hadnt lost in MMA and had made a mess of quite a few K1 fighters. ie, he was quite highly regarded.

Honestly, I think he took a much worse beating from Crocop than when he fought Sapp.

I agree, Crocop gave him 10 minutes of sustained damaged finished off with a LHK on the bell, but Sapp put a freakin pile driver on him in the first 10 seconds of the fight!

Both are great fights and must see for any MMA fan. If you've only watched UFC and are wondering what the hype around minotauro is about, check them out and you'll understand why he's so highly regarded. Also gives a good insight into why the ref didnt stop the fight when herring landed that kick at the end of round 1.

Yeah, a couple of my friends who know nothing of Big Nog were asking me why the ref let it go on so long. Then I explained to them how Crocop kicked him in the face, and he still won the fight. I think they got it after that.

Sherk and Franca tests positive for steroids.
Sherk says he will appeal the test but how often to test results actually get over turned...

I was looking forward to Penn vs Sherk too, I wonder who Penn will fight for the belt now.

I"m a huge Nog fan and I hope he gets the UFC belt but I'm afraid he'll only hold it till the UFC gets Fedor finally signed.

Here are the two fights mentioned above:

Bob Sapp vs Big Nog:
Video Minotauro Vs Bob Sapp - Bob, Sapp, Minotauro, Antonio, ring - Dailymotion Share Your Videos

Big Nog vs Mirko(only the second round)
Video Crocop vs Minotauro referee cam round 2 - mirko, crocop, rodrigo, minotauro, k-1 - Dailymotion Share Your Videos

I miss the ref cam.

Too Mirko's credit he did make Bob Sapp cry...

This is personally one of my favorite fights of Big Nog:
Video Minotauro Nogueira vs Herring 2 - Antonio, Rodrigo, Minotauro, Nogueira, bodog - Dailymotion Share Your Videos

I just love the anaconda choke. Just a brutal, brutal sub, You can see Herring face turn purple before he even has him turned over.

Its not often but an overturn has happened at least once, for Nathan Marquardt

And if they don't overturn the ruling, then I hope they strip Sherk of the belt. Not because of the steroids, I really don't give a shit about that, but a year without a lightweight title fight... fuck that.

Well I was looking at the schedule and Shogun is no longer scheduled to fight Machida at UFC76(sept 22). Haven't looked into why, but his replacement is Forrest Griffin. Maybe they just wanted to give Shogun someone who is stupid enough to try and stand in there and throw with him. Either way I fully expect Forrest to get annihilated.

Diego Sanchez vs. Jon Fitch same card, should be a good fight. Fitch rarely disappoints, and has a ton of heart. I'm actually gonna give him the nod here. He transitions from striking to submissions better than Diego, and Diego is coming off that staph infection.

Chuck Liddell vs. Keith Jardine same card. Well, someone will probably get knocked the fuck out. More than likely Jardine.

Not sure why, but 74 isn't until August 25th, and 73 was at the beginning of July(8th). Almost 2 months without a PPV, then they're doing three of them in under a month. Kinda odd.

Notable fights at 74: Couture vs. Gonzaga. I'm not making any predictions. I haven't seen enough of Gonzaga, and Randy could always come out and shock us with something new. Hoping Randy wins and UFC gets Fedor signed finally. Or that Cro Cop at least finishes off Kongo so they can match him and Randy up.

Marcus Aurelio vs. Glay Guida: Guida has a non-stop engine and tons of heart. He just needs to learn to end some fucking fights so the judges don't have to keep making iffy decisions in his fights. Maximus has always entertained me, but some people don't like his style. Either way it should be rough for him to get a sub on Guida, but eventually one of them will stick and Guida will take a nap.

There is a Ultimate Fight Night sandwiched in there too. Like 4 events in a month. 2 of them free. All of them pretty damn good cards. No clue why they're going like 2 months without an event, but atleast it should be worth the wait.

What's going on with WWE/Boxing and other PPV buys during that time period? Might be something they wanted to avoid.

No idea about WWE, boxing had Hopkins/Wright this past weekend. Nothing else of note to worry about over that timeframe(Erik Morales does not a serious competition make).

Rumor has it Dana and Joe Silva changed the Shogun fight from Machida to Griffin because they are wary Machida would draw out the fight and pull off the decision. They changed the match up to over hyped Griffin to pull bigger numbers and to have Rua beat the shit out of a well known UFC fighter and go for a title shot.

I was so looking forward to this fight. Now it's just gonna be Griffin getting his hole reamed and Rua getting a shot at the title.
