+6 Internets | It would have been a lot simpler if you had started with this instead of acting like he had nothing to do with the fight being bad. Obviously he did the right thing to get a win, knowing he was ahead in the points. That does not change the fact that he had just about as much to do with the fight being boring as Leites did. |

+46 Internets | No, he wasnt even close. Yes the first 2 rounds were bad but Anderson always takes it slow in the beginning. Only thing I can say is he had a ton of opportunities to end it and didnt take the chance.

| I must say after all the greasegate bullshit, when i saw Silva grab the vaseline off his face and rub it on his arms and chest i was a little confused and surprised no one said shit about it. Sure there isn't much vaseline on the face right? Apparently there was enough for GSP to 'totally nullify BJ's Legendary's rubber guard' ![]() |

| I feel sorry for Silva that there are so many ignorant fans out there that think he did something wrong. On quite a few occasions when he did move in to strike, Leites simply fell to the ground like a bitch. Could Silva have followed him to the ground? Sure, but why would he? He has superior stand-up, why would he want to fight on the ground where Leites has the advantage? If Leites wanted the fight on the ground, he has to take Silva down, not fall like a bitch and hope Silva follows. People should be mad at Leites for falling like that and avoiding the stand-up, not at Silva for not following him to the ground.

Most of the mainstream fans are pretty ignorant. This is a competition, with a belt (and $$$) on the line. You do whatever it takes to win. They don't get extra $$$ from the fans if they risk it all and overextend on their weaknesses. In the NBA playoffs, if you bought a ticket to watch a superstar play, and the coach benched him to rest him since they had no chance of winning that game... who do you blame? I'm pretty certain the point is to win the series, no matter what.

+20 Internets | Sorry guys, I was really embarrassed by my performance on the weekend. Leites is not really to blame. He had no chance of beating me in the standup and no chance to take me down so he did the only thing he could do: butt scoot and pray. Yeah, I was pretty harsh fucking with him for the last 3 rounds. I was trying to insult his honor so he would come after me for the KO. But, hey, did you like my reverse soccer heel-to-shin kick? That was pretty cool. I do those with my kid. Anyways, if you are pissed at any Silva it should be J. Silva for pairing me up with these lugnuts Cote and Leites. They had no fucking chance and, to be honest, I was bored as fuck training for and fighting them. Where the fuck is GSP? I promise to at least take that one seriously (even though I am not sure he is gonna get past Alves). Peace out. |

+33 Internets | Anderson Silva looks like he's just sitting there kinda saying "why do you match me up against these amateurs? Anyways, said it before, i'll say it again. It's just like Ali in his prime. He's toying with people. He could have finished that at any time. Anyways, Woo Shogun!

+27 Internets | Jesus fuck you guys need to get off Silva's cock. You can check my past posts, I'm not some random Silva hater, I've honestly enjoyed pretty much all of his fights. That said, his last two fights were bullshit. His offense in over 7 ROUNDS of his last two fights amounts to jack shit. He's thrown almost nothing but jabs and quick kicks. If he spent half the time on offense that he does on his showboating and dancing we wouldn't even be having this conversation. You guys jump all over Leites because he's not aggressive, and give a complete pass to Silva because he's the champ? I'm certainly not putting all the blame on Silva, Leites was far too timid and fond of pulling guard, but to act like Silva's game plan is totally cool is ridiculous. They both fought "smart" fights and wanted to stick to their area of expertise. If Leites didn't belong in that fight, you can't really blame him, he didn't choose his opponent any more than Silva did. Silva is supposed to be one of, if not the, best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, yet what has he showed his last two fights? Not a whole lot. If he wants to be known as a "dominant" fighter, he needs to actually dominate his opponents. TL;DR, they both are to blame for a boring fight, the difference is that I actually expect something out of Silva. As for the other fights, damn did Shogun look good, like a completely different fighter from his Coleman fight. I really thought he was pretty much washed up after his pitiful performance against Coleman, and picked Liddel because of that. I really hope that's a sign he's back in top form again, can't wait to see his next fight. Liddel, on the other hand, probably needs to retire. He's completely lost his chin, and as a counter-puncher that's pretty much a death sentence. Other fights were pretty decent, but the Stout/Wiman decision was bullshit. I really don't know how the judges gave Stout the first round. |

+46 Internets | 1: Yeah Silva has been underwhelming the last 2 fights, but... 2: Look at recent Chuck Liddell to see what happens when a counter puncher goes off his gameplan. It's not fun to watch, but he's fighting disciplined. It's just unfortunate that his style really doesn't work against passive opponents. And if it keeps up he's gonna be the skinny black Tim Sylvia in many fans eyes.

| its easy to sit back and be pissy about silva if your a viewer. what the fuck ever though.. his title, his stats, his record, and his health were all on the line. i respect him more for not caving to what rogan callled a "fast food fight". sure there are merits to the argument that these fight need to entertain, but i think top of the heap fighters should be the exception since they have much more to lose than thier opponent has to gain. i think rogan was spot-on with his comment about the casual fans during the fight. this thread is making that even more clear. |
