Andre vs. Fedor could headline Affliction's next event:

Quote:
With Affliction’s January show still a mystery outside of a few rumored bouts -- including a proposed headliner between world-ranked heavyweights Fedor Emelianenko and Andrei Arlovski -- Affliction Vice-President Tom Atencio said that the card would not include boxing matches as earlier planned.
Boxing On Hold for Affliction Event

I hope this ends up a reality. I love Fedor, but I think Andre has a better shot at beating him than any other heavyweight right now. I don't think many people would agree with that, but if they do match up, I'd have to call the upset.

I don't know. With the way Nelson controlled Andre on the ground, I can see Fedor just taking him down and wrecking him.

You're probably right. I have some faith in Arlovski because, like Fedor, he also has a background in Sambo. That should theoretically help him avoid Fedor's take down, right? It's a long shot, I know, but I also think Andre has the athleticism to out-box Fedor. Hopefully we get a chance to see it.

I just don't see it. Arlovski is not really a knockout artist. He feels the opponent out before he goes for the KO. Not really a 1 shot guy. And if you give Fedor the kinda time that takes, you are going to end up on the ground. It's entirely possible he could catch him, no one is invincible. It just doesn't seem like Arlovski's typical gameplan would be conducive to beating Fedor.

I'm really not sure whose is at this point. Randy Couture has great dirty boxing, but that requires being in close/clinched. Which inevitably leads to a Fedor takedown. And if Randy gets the takedown he's still dealing with a guy who gets subs like cake and is very good at escaping. Randy has decent sub defense, but it's not great. And he wouldn't have the size advantage like most HW's would.

Lesnar is Lesnar. He might get the fight to the ground on his terms, but Fedor won't be controlled like Herring was. An arm or a leg will get isolated eventually.

Other than guys who would just have a puncher's chance, what's left? I don't see what Barnett is going to bring to the table that will stop Fedor. He's dealt with Nog so I don't see Mir/Werdum catching him in anything. Who is left that would have an actual chance beyond "he could land a big punch" ?

Diego out Kos in. Hopefully Koscheck can finish him. Pretty short notice though.

Yeah that's really short notice for a top end UFC fight. Koscheck is kinda stuck in limbo though so not surprised he jumped at the chance to fight a marquee opponent.

Damnit! That was looking to be one hell of a fight. Next to Franklin, Sanchez is one of my favorite fighters to watch. I hope Koscheck gets his shit pushed in.

I would imagine Koschek is one of those fighters that is always in pretty damn good condition. Especially with the way injuries can pop up, and the possibility of stepping in. I am not a fan of Koschek, I find him annoying as fuck. However, he has tremendous work ethic, and I would imagine he would be ready to fight at any time.

Frank Mir sucks and so does his team on TUF. He should have died in that motorcycle accident.

Thats what I kinda like about it. I cant really stand either fighter so it will be cool to watch them kick the crap out of each other. Whoever wins i'm not bummed since I never root for either of them

I can't stand either fighter, but after watching the UFC countdown, I have a little more respect for Leben. Bisping is just an insufferable fagot.
