Sorry guys, Kimbo was out and not intelligently defending himself. There was a barrage of undefended punches, which I think did the damage to his eye. It was a good stoppage, and the ref gave him plenty of time to recover.

You did see the part where he spent 10-15 seconds trying to double-leg the ref, right? It really does blow for him to lose like this though. No way a pro fighter should have to take a fight on an hours notice. But the show would bomb without him and I'm sure the brass were begging like crazy. You could tell the whole night that he was not happy about the situation. In the one earlier interview he'd barely answer the chick's questions. And after the fight he just said his piece and walked away from the interviewer. Just didn't seem real cooperative, and he always had been before. Can't blame him. That's amateur shit. edit: Also, the first shot after he went down was a hammerfist to the back of the head. The ref could have conceivably stopped it there and given him time to recover. I don't think it is what did him in at all, but it could have happened and I'm kinda surprised it didn't. Just because it was Kimbo. And speaking of ref perceived favoritism, did the ref in the Arlovski fight stand it up way too early the one time or was it just me? Nelson was going for seriously arm locks and throwing some pretty heavy knees. It's not like it was stalled and stagnant.

Either way, it is safe to say that Kimbo made bank for this fight. I am sure the "delay" in accepting the short-notice fight was more about padding his pocket than anything else (not that there is anything wrong with that). The stoppage was, in my opinion, warranted as Kimbo was out on his feet. Edit: And yes I was questioning the decision by the ref to stand up Arlovsky and Nelson, even though I was pulling for Arlovsky. It was suspiciously quick.

Since I've sparred with Seth and lasted longer then 14 seconds I think the only logical conclusion is that Mippo > Kimbo Slice. Don't mess with Orlando fighters! Look out for Mikey Gomez as well who frankly, should've already gotten a chance at the UFC. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get in soon.

QUOTE] Yeah I caught that part, and that may have just been out of frustration. But really the only blows that I saw that were landed was the short jab when they were on their feet and the last punch Seth threw on the ground before the ref stepped in. Watch it again and you will see those were the only 2 solid punches that hit and really don't think it should have been stopped that early. I figured the ref would have let the fight continue just a little bit longer, but this kind of thing seems to happen a lot in Elite XC.

The announcer had me rolling when he kept repeating that line....shocking the MMA world? Not so much buddy! Arlovsky/Nelson was good but can only agree that was a horrible call on the stand up. These things happen but when you see a call like that it really makes you question wtf is going on.

Here's the video incase anyone missed it. I'm sure Fedor will hit up the thread with a gif today. Edit: Listen to the last 15-20 seconds of commentary when they mention Hulk Hogan lol. I completely missed it last night, everyone here was cheering when Kimbo lost. Last edited by p0wl : 10-05-2008 at 10:03 AM.
