| If corporate forces keep the fedor/couture fight from ever happening, it will be a tremendous blow to the sport. Do everything you can to be less like boxing, MMA. Please? Randy vs Lesnar... There's some drama there. I'd watch it.

Winner of Mir vs Nog will fight winner of Lesnar vs Randy, who will fight Fedor. Calling it now for Lesnar vs Fedor btw.

| Just so I understand, there are 2 possible scenarios here: 1) co-promotion to get fedor to fight any fighter currently under contract with UFC 2) the UFC getting fedor How does option 2 ever happen?

+24 Internets | Option 2 happens if the ufc can make a deal attractive to Fedor. Fedor's camp has said they'd play ball if only the UFC would let Russia compete once in a while in Sambo, but the truth is probably more complex than that. UFC doesn't want the impression for fans OR for fighters to be that the best fighters are outside of the UFC. Currently pretty much everyone considers Fedor the best fighter in the world. Honestly I bet it'd be healthier for UFC if Brock Lesnar or one of their other younger stars beat Fedor in a co-promotion fight, than if they simply got Fedor.

Well, that was an initial sticking point. Also the fact Dumbfuck White called Fedor's management "crazy Russians" in the press while they were still negotiating. And the UFC wanted to force one of their crazy restrictive contracts on him(on top of the no Sambo thing), with the fucked up image rights and the ability to do the freeze out BS if he doesn't re-sign etc etc. AND since they stopped talking Affliction has shown up and paid out the nose for Fedor. I mean, millions. Never say never. but yeah, unlikely.

+24 Internets | Yeah, that's what the rumors and assumptions have been, and I pretty much agree with that being the most probably result. I really wonder if "dumbfuck white" or whatever would agree to co-promote for a fight with Fedor. Honestly, unless someone in his squad comes out and whips ass all the way to the title, I wouldn't let a co-promotion happen. Maybe if Lesnar demolishes Randy and Nog, proves he has good sub-defense and as good of a chin as his build would suggest, then I'd say UFC vs Fedor. But if Randy beats up Lesnar and then takes out Nog/Mir, I'd still avoid a Randy vs Fedor, because I don't think Randy can beat Fedor.

+2 Internets | I sure as shit hope so, but I am really not sure. At this point Randy is now 45. I know he is Captain America, and has shown that age isn't everything, but lets be realistic. He is a small heavyweight, Lesnar has to cut to get to 265. I could see him managing a takedown on Randy and just laying on him for 3 (5?) rounds. The guy is freakishly strong and athletic. I honestly think he can just overpower Randy. I pray to the MMA Gods that I am 100% wrong. |

| IMO Lesnar vs Couture would be a great match for Brock. Waaaay better than him going against Big Nog. Lesnar is stronger and can most likely hold his own wrestling against Randy, but he needs more time to train against subs for Big Nog. I'd still pick Randy over Lesnar, just due to experience in the cage, but I think it'll be back and forth. If both happen, I bet Lesnar vs Randy will draw more buys than Randy vs Fedor. |

+22 Internets | It's retarded, randy said the only fight left in his career was Fedor and all this mess happend. Now he desides to fight a HW in the UFC that isnt even ranked instead of fighting Nog. Really just makes him seem like he is only about the money.

Cro Cop vs. Overeem at Dream 6 on September 23rd. Overeem says it is "definitely happening". Nice list of 10 Bouts to Watch in September over on Sherdog. Only 1 UFC one listed, bunch of smaller/foreign promotions. Honestly, I'd like something like this every month just so I don't miss any matches I might have otherwise. Like Reis/Quach for the EliteXC Bantamweight belt.

+11 Internets | How do people not get the fact that fighters don't get to just pick someone and that is the fight they get? You think Tito Ortiz wanted to fight Machida in his last UFC fight? You think Arlovski wanted Jake O'Brien for his UFC send off, on an undercard no less? This isn't something new. The UFC people match up folks going out in a way that makes them, the UFC, maximum money with minimum risk. IF Randy wins, it's good for him and he can go on with a little more pull. However the UFC can just say he beat a guy with only 2 "real" fights under his belt. IF he loses, the Fedor fight loses most of it's luster and Dana gets to spout about how he knew Randy was washed up. Either way the UFC gets to say Nog is the champ, if they let Randy fight him and he won somehow, their undisputed HW champ would be walking. As for cashing in, does Randy get a portion of PPV? I know Liddell did for some shows, not sure how standard it is. And I haven't looked that closely at all the Couture contract stuff that's come out. Anyways, once again, the fighters do not get to pick the fights. Especially in the UFC. If they want you to fight a specific guy and don't give you any options, your only choices are to take it or to sit. Ya know, like he's been doing since last August.

+22 Internets | Yeah I understand that. I still think it was BS that Couture never wanted to stay and fight Nog. Coutures contract is PPV % along with Tito/Liddell/Silva exc. Wonder if Ferrtita taking over is one of the main reason he is back to fighting with them.
