Because of his choice to go with Sengoku? They took it personally? All the heavyweights did land outside Dream, so I can see how Barnett turning them down would make them angry.

It's due to some sort of money that the Dream brass owe him from the Pride Days. I know they are two seperate companies but most of the people in Dream are from Pride and Barnett still has a dispute with them.

He said last years joke against Hong Man Choi was a sort of farewell show. So I don't think he feels compelled to necessarily HAVE to be in Japan if he fights on NYE anymore.
He's fighting in Japan on NYE. There isn't a formal contract yet I believe, but everything that has been posted on other forums have indicated as much he'll be there in Japan. It could change like Dana White coming to his senses and throwing a wad of cash at Fedor to fight Randy on NYE in the States, but he'll be in Japan pending someone throws alot of money at him to fight elsewhere. We'll see in the coming months.

Apparently, Mirko is wanting to fight Overeem. I know Overeem was talkin' shit about Crocop recently, saying he was dodging him.

Well Mirko turned down the fight twice when he was offered Overeem. So Overeem has legs to stand on regarding his comment.

I don't blame him. Overeem isn't exactly a warm-up or mid-tier fight. The guy has world class stand-up and has shown to be able to wrestle. When Overeem shows up with a gas tank its bad news for anyone.

Overeem became a monster at heavyweight, he blew up. Does anyone know what his weight is now?

Not sure, but he was up there with Forrest on the list of guys who it was amazing could fight at 205. Even more amazing to me. Just look at him in this old Pride pic. How the fuck that monster ever made weight at 205 is beyond me. I know some of it is perspective, but holy fuck. Aleks is 6'6" and 250. Manhoef(right next to Overeem) is a Light Heavy fighter. You'd never look at those two and think they fight in the same class.

Wiki has him listed at 239.9

lol Manhoef looks like hes fighting at 170 next to Overeem. And thats before Overeem blew up when he made the move to HW.

Definitely earned his spot in the weight cutters hall of fame.

Makes me wonder though how legitimate Pride weigh-ins were. No athletic commission there. And remember, in the entire history of Pride nobody fails to make weight, ever.

Can someone list the fighters in that pic? There is a couple I am having problems figuring out, since I'm newer into MMA than most here.

Pretty sure that is Chalid Arrab. I did a search on team Golden Glory and found him through that. Was just surprised that half of the people there were people I've never heard of.

I know this is an old topic, but with Elite-XC and Affliction gaining some ground in the MMA market I just can't help but think again on how big a douche bag retard Dana White is.

I never understood his decision to buy Pride then dismantle it. I'm not some super businessman, but it just seemed like a horrible decision. You can't own a market 100% without any competition, you'll always have some league vying for a piece of the pie. He had the two biggest names in MMA in his pocket. He should of kept Pride as a separate entity with it's own fighters and events, it already had a huge following, and every so often could stage UFC-Pride crossover championship events. He could of had at least twice as many fighters as he had now, twice as many cards and certainly made much more money.

I mean, look at the talent the the UFC is hemorraging. Arlovski (only 2 losses in his last 12 and that was to Tim), Lawler, Diaz, Tim (hate his goofy ugly face but he has a solid record) etc etc. And I won't even mention the huge cash cow that Fedor v.s. Randy could have been. I'm not even interested in the UFC at the moment, with the exception of one or two fighters (Anderson, Pierre maybe Penn) I couldn't give a shit less about any of their cards. I mean wtf seriously @ penis tattoo chest WWF wrestler.

White just strikes me as an insanely arrogant egotistical moron who makes far too many business decisions based on his own personal likes or dislikes. Maybe he thought he was going to usher in a new sports league like NBA or NFL, but if that was the case I think he sorely misjudged not just the market but also the number if solid fighters he could maintain under a single name brand.

Finally, not signing Fedor will have to go down as the number one worst retard failures of all time. Now the number one heavy weight is left fighting freaks of nature and retards like Tim and soon to be Arlovski (who's good, and I enjoy his fights, but is not in Fedor's league). He'll keep fighting people who under ideal circumstances shouldn't even be considered for a matchup, and eventually be caught and knocked out or lose to a decision or whatever and we'll all be left sorely frustrated because all the "could of been" matches that never happened.
