I smell something fishy and its not the stuff coming out of Thompson's ear. Kimbo spends half of the second round taking elbows to the head and the ref doesn't do anything. It did not appear that they were killer elbows but what about defending yourself intelligently.

The second Thompson is in a little trouble with Kimbo ready to collapse from exhaustion and the fight is stopped.

I don't know. Maybe it was the right call but I think they wanted to protect their investment. Kimbo was one takedown away from losing the fight.

That and the bad stoppage on the Lawler/Smith fight did not bode well for the network debut.

Did you see the replays?

I thought for sure after the ear was toast, Kimbo landed 4-5 shots on Thompson that he didnt defend at all and they were all to the head. I think even one of the commentators mentioned it and that Thompson swung at the ref when he intervened.

The Smith/Lawler fight stoppage was much more retarded.

The last stoppage may have been premature, but not by much. And Thompson didn't punch the ref because he was out of it like they hinted, he pushed his face away for stopping it. Also, shouldn't Kimbo's beard be illegal? That shit is straight up padding, and it hides where his chin is.

WTB gif of the 2nd round punch that they showed in slow mo that made Thompson's ear flap back and forth, that was hilarious.

I dont think so. I will admit that Kimbo was completely exausted from being on the ground, but that was from more of struggling to try and get back on his feet. The elbows and punches were pretty much ineffective, and it looked like a couple of times the ref might have stood them up. I will grant you that if Thompson would have gotten Kimbo on the ground again it would have probably went his way in a decision due to Kimbo spending his time take shots, but...

God DAMN when Kimbo hits someone, Thompson looked like he got stupid knocked into him. Kimbo was FAR superior in his stand up vs. what Thompson was doing on the ground, wasnt even close. Plus at the end, Thompson put his hand on the ref, I honestly dont think Thompson knew who, or where he was. He just got the shit knocked out of him repeatedly, and that ear. Pretty fucking gross.

I really enjoyed those fights.

One more punch and he could of done some really bad damage to him. At first I thought it was a pretty poor stoppage, but after seeing that he landed about 5 shots that he didn't defend..yeah. Good stop.

I saw the replays several times. Take what the commentators say with a grain of salt. They are trying to justify the stoppage. If they want to work again, they are not going to say it was bullshit. Thompson shoved the ref because he was pissed.

The replays make him look wobbly but is that more from damage or regular exhaustion? He took Kimbo's shots in the fight and while they probably hurt, earlier in the fight he came back fine. Kimbo collapsed the second the fight was called.

Honestly, it that was a UFC fight, the ref would have told Kimbo that he needs to do something in the second round or the fight is over. Hell if that had been anyone other than Kimbo they probably would have stopped the fight. Whether they are pillow cases or howitzers you don't get to take repeated shots to the head and do nothing and keep fighting.

I am not suggesting anything was fixed but they gave him a lot of lattitude.

Why is it that the UFC is the only company that puts up the reach info on each fighter? Do they have some sort of patent on this shit(how could they)? I don't understand why no other organization displays these stats pre fight.

Kimbo was exposed a lot there. Just another striker with no gas tank and no ground game. He needs to get some serious BJJ practice in if he was getting manhandled by Thompson that bad in the ground game. Because Thompson is fucking *horrible*. And this fight now legitimized him to a bunch of people with no idea who he is. I laughed my ass off during the intros.

I want them to stick Kimbo in there with Brett Rogers next=)

Kimbo was getting schooled throughout most of the fight.. Hopefully Thompson will get a rematch to avenge this loss. Thompson was getting rocked in the third round, but he looked just as wobbly when he got rocked in the first round.

There were a few times when Kimbo could have KO'd Thompson with ease, but he hesitated.

The card was okay, I liked how they took the first half hour to describe MMA for noobs. Also, I really liked the production of the show, much better than UFC IMO.

All they are doing with Kimbo is bringing him along slowly. They do it for boxers all the damned time. Give him a little bit at a time. Put him against different fighters that arent great, but do things a little bit differently to get him experience. Good strat. That dudes ear looks freaking nasty.

I didn't realize how well conditioned UFC fighters are compared to these guys. They stop losing their power in punches after the 1st round it seems.

Anyway I don't know if this is gonna last, UFC is so much better.
