I guess he gets alot of that from Pride, where you have to be a good showman as well as a good fighter. Thats the one thing the UFC is missing.Theres no Bob Sap show haha

It fits in with typical UFC scoring. Vastly overvalued the takedowns and ground control Cale had in the final 2 minutes or so. You could see even the fighters and coaches thought it would go another round.

The funny thing is you can't tell when hes in rampage mode.

All his fights in the UFC he has gone into Rampage mode, but you could easily assume hes being a sarcastic tough guy. I always got the impression hes just mugging for the camera in the pre-fight staredown. But hes actually in the zone.

I took him a lot more serious after realizing that his gimmick didn't carry over to the fight itself, but its very hard to separate the two personalities.

Mir Nog coaching sucks because they aren't even dealing with heavyweights.

How are two huge BJJ guys (especially Mir) going to teach people with less than 40 pounds than them. It seems like this season is just a farce to introduce Nog to the people.

Technique can be taught regardless of weight class. How do you not know that?

LOL!? They aren't teaching Heavyweights? What a bunch of bullshit. I suspect the next season of TuF to fail horribly. Nog is my favorite fighter, but he just doesn't strike me as someone people will have any interest in seeing except for the hardcore fans.

I am very interested on his training and his teaching of it, but other than that I could care less about TuF. Heck I stopped watching this season after episode 1.

I train in something where you can't learn technique against longer, heavier and usually faster reaches. We call that size difference.

I bet Sean Sherk taught Lesnar a lot when they rolled together right?

You just get plain fucking tooled in my sport. The ground game shouldn't be any different. Teach all the technique you want, sparring with Mir and Nog doesn't give those midgets any help.

Not to mention the HW division needs new talent so badly they should be signing all the brawlers with gas tanks they can get. Dana says the talent isn't there, thats bullshit. Just get some guys with gas tanks, nobody cares about the rest as long as you have a handful of legitimate title contenders. Right now the HW division has nobody, zero prospects and few legitimate contenders.

You're wrong Jay. Technique matters leaps and bounds over anything in BJJ. Teaching the little differences in hand/leg/weight placement can improve your game 10 fold. Also, they both are bringing in a team to work with the fighters. I don't see why you have a problem here. It's like telling me you wouldn't want to train with Cus D'Amato because he was old and short.

You are right. I am more pissed at the fact Dana made good on his promise of no more heavyweight TUF. Having heavyweight coaches with no heavyweights was just a slap in the face, especially with how decayed the division currently is.

It speaks to the future of the HW division.

OK watching some select fights from the Sengoku show. So far just the Mike Pyle vs. Dan Hornbuckle fight and

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
RINGS SUCK! Pyle got tackled clear through the ropes at one point. Didn't hurt him and he locked in the triangle for the win at the very end of round 1, but they still suck=P

edit: Roger Gracie vs. Yuki Kondo
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I was not impressed by Gracie at first, but once they got the camera to the side when he was in mount and you could see what he was doing it was really impressive. It's nice to see some of that smooth Gracie JJ in the ring again. He was in side mount and isolated Kondo's arm for what looked like a keylock of some sort, and the instant Kondo started to defend it he just slid right in to full mount crazy smoothly. From there he managed to posture up a bit and once he landed a couple shots and Kondo started to roll he just calmly took his back and slowly sunk in the RNC. Fight over. It was really impressive to watch if you care at all about the technical aspects of the ground game.

Of course, I think he had like 30 pounds on Kondo too. That can't hurt.

Will watch the Barnett/Monson fight later, I need sleep.

Learning from someone that is in a different weight class than you is different than actually fighting with someone from a different weight class. In my BJJ classes I prefer someone that is 2-3 classes above me because it means I can't muscle my way into moves, I have to rely on technique. In a real fight I'd rather not have to deal with someone that weighs 30-40 more pounds than I do though.

I've read interviews with some of the Militich heavyweights about how they don't like sparring with Robbie Lawler(185) because he hits so hard.
