This thread is gonna be barren until the next UFC without Jay here to piss people off... He wasn't that bad, I didn't think a ban was warranted, but oh well.

Also, HDNet signed a deal with DREAM and should be airing DREAM 3 and on live.

lol at both of those.. but god damn entertaining I say. What in the hell is the Hughes camp thinking. Alves should beat that tired old man down. I was a huge fan of Hughes but he just needs to retire.

I think this Leben fight is a wash. Leben either gets lucky or just tries to survive. It would be nice to see Bisbing get humiliated though.

Totally! I mean look at who he has lost to within the last 6 years alone. GSP *AND* some scrub named BJ Penn and, well, no one else. But still! WTF! Step off old man, make room for the youth!

People are way too quick to call for fighters to retire=P Until he's out there looking like Ken Shamrock, let the man fight.

As for the actual fight, I tend to view it as more of an opportunity/reward for Alves than anything else. A win instantly legitimizes him and puts him on the short list of people who should fight for the belt. With Fitch and...Fitch I guess=P Waxing Karo was a good start, beating Hughes would definitely put him in line for a shot.

As for Bisping vs. Leben, it's nice to have one almost guaranteed brawl per card. I like to have a nice mi of match types. Some technical stand up, some brawlers, some BJJ guys, a wrestler. Everything as long as the fighters are good, or at least put on an entertaining fight. 85 is shaping up to be a pretty entertaining card.

Also, before the next UFC we get 2 DREAM cards and a Sengoku card with Josh Barnett. So we'll have plenty to discuss. Also, K-1 WGP Amsterdam is tonight, right? Remy/Manhoef, Yvel/Overeem(mma rules I guess), should both be good fights. And BUAKAW! is fighting.

Yvel vs. Overeem was cancelled, Yvel had to pull out due to injury.

I guess the TUF he coached made him look "tired" to me. Hell the guy himself said his days are numbered in the UFC. He just hasn't fought that much lately the past year and perhaps thats why I feel tired for him.

I am looking forward to Affliction's "Banned" card as well. wtf is with the UFC banning Affliction clothing at its events.

I am pretty fucking stoked HDNET is picking up a lot of the fights now. I mean I am getting my mma fix by watching the 4am Strikeforce show on NBC. Arent you?

The whole world should ban Affliction clothing. That tired mess of black-and-white gothic graphic prints was played out several years ago. It's no surprise that mid-Western jocks and 20-something i-bankers are sporting that shit, both groups are usually at least a few years late to the party.

I do think that UFC probably banned it because of the rumors about them starting up their own MMA organization, though. The fact that they have their own card now is evidence enough. Dana is a nazi about refusing to support the competition in any way, and seems especially adamant about publicly trashing start-up MMA orgs.

I am glad that regardless of the outcome of the Hughes and Alves fight, Hughes will be fighting Serra next. After all the shit talking done I wanted to see that fight.

I agree as I hate the clothing as well and never understood it. However my point was pretty much to get the bashing on dana white going.

Have you seen Rogan's take on the clothing. I've seen him live at a place called the Canyon Club down the street from me. If you ever get the chance I strongly recommend seeing his act live.

Lutter was dropped by the UFC. Didn't really like him but would of liked to see him stay around with the MW division being what it is. Too bad he always seemed to half ass everything.
