Mir is lucky he was the most focused he has ever been. Brock tried his hardest to jerk out of it, and any other person on that night except Mir would have let go, including Nog. Mir is back.

LOL Mir still looked like his shitty self. He just got lucky against a guy with very little MMA experience. Where Brock put his leg is somewhere a someone new to the sport does. Any BJJ guy would have subbed him when given a leg like that. Nog would have shown us some new sub if he was given a leg like that.

Wait, what? And why the fuck would anyone else have let go? And why on God's green earth would you point out Nog as someone who would? Jesus, my head hurts.

I didn't think Lesnar looked horrible, he just looked inexperienced. Give him time. He gave the UFC the excuse they needed to thrust Mir back in the title picture, now they'll feed Brock a few cans to build his record and give him some experience.

Also, former Pride fighters now hold 3 of the 4 UFC belts. And even if Hendo beats Silva that number won't change. Of course the while Pride vs. UFC thing is retarded, but so is the whole "OMG Pride people suck in the UFC!" bullshit.

Ok so no luck involved. Mir was focused period, as mentioned by people that were actually at UFC 81 such as the commentators.

Did you see his post-fight interview? he said that this fight was the only time he could SEE PEOPLE and feel the crowd. He said he hit hands with his friends and actually saw their faces. He was in the moment for the first time. He said usually he feels like hes in a petri dish. His corner also showed him a picture of his daughter.

Lesnar in the post-fight said he was very impressed with the way Mir stayed on his leg. Nog isn't as big or strong as Mir, he would have slipped the leg. Mir ALMOST slipped it, but repositioned himself because he knew he was fucked otherwise. It was a very exciting display of heart by Mir, which said a lot. The people pissing on Mir saying "BJJ 101" can get lost.

It was funny how Mir's entire body moved about 6 feet from the time that he first got the hold and when Lesnar tapped. Impressive from both fighters.

This is funny shit. Any BJJ guy can do that with a gi on and no threat of getting his faced punched in.

Bobby Lashley apparently has been talking to a few guys about what life in the UFC is like and working with Dana White.

Hes 275 by the way. Easy cut to 265. Probably would come in at even less once he trains MMA and gets off the sauce. I think hes mostly genetics though. He could probably have went pro football if he played it.

edit: just found out its guaranteed lashley is doing MMA.

In other news Josh Barnett is confirmed to fight Yoshida in World Victory Road promotion on 3/5.

That was awesome=) Had only seen pictures of this one. Bo Cantrell is rubbish, but still an impressive feat for a *big* heavyweight to get two Gogos in a row.

Edit: Tito talks

Tito Ortiz Trashes Dana White, Hints at Starting New Fight Promotion on “Howard Stern Show”

Posted by MMA Junkie on February 6, 2008 at 11:12 am ET

UFC light heavyweight Tito Ortiz had some harsh words for UFC President Dana White and hinted that he might eventually start his own fight promotion when he leaves the UFC. Ortiz discussed both topics while a guest on today’s “Howard Stern Show,” which airs on Sirius as satellite radio’s most popular program.

Ortiz was a guest on the show with his girlfriend, former porn superstar and mogul Jenna Jameson. While much of the interview focused on Jameson and her new book, Stern did ask Ortiz about his current feud with White and plans for the future.

“He’s an egotistical egomaniac,” Ortiz said of White. “He wants to be a fighter and a superstar.

“I’ve worked so hard for (the UFC) and put my ass on the line. I’ve fought injured and with a torn ACL and a bulging disc and still put my ass on the line, and they still don’t show me respect… Dana’s like Don King. The only thing that separates him and Dana White is the color of their skin.“

Ortiz also confirmed that he’ll be a free agent after his May 24 fight with Lyoto Machida. He said he “could” go to work for another organization or even start his own fight promotion when that time comes.

His decision to leave the UFC is based largely on his and other fighters’ pay — an issue Ortiz has spoken about openly for years and that has been well-documented here on MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). Ortiz believes the UFC is raking in millions with each event while giving a pittance to its fighters.

“They make about $43 million on pay-per-view, which doesn’t even include (the live gate), which is another $5 million, and not to mention merchandise sales,” Ortiz said.

As for life after the UFC, Ortiz said he would love to fight Frank Shamrock. Ortiz and Shamrock are reportedly considering a 10-year-anniversary fight if Ortiz doesn’t re-sign with the UFC. The two fighters first met at UFC 22, where Shamrock defeated Ortiz with a fourth-round submission via strikes.

Ortiz also confirmed that his new autobiography will be called “It’s Going to Hurt” and hits stores in June.

“I’m afraid to let it go,” Ortiz said. “I didn’t hold anything back.“
Nothing shocking, but some interesting stuff anyways. I'm not a Tito fan, but you have to appreciate his loyalty. He was there through all the lean years, he should get some kind of reward for it. And Tito vs. Frank would be awesome for those of us who have been watching since the old days.

MORE EDIT:

UFC is rumored to be for sale, and Dana White says they will probably start doing their own rankings eventually, but not "any time soon". Also they are suing DSE, I haven't read all the details but it probably has something to do with fighter contracts. DSE was shady as fuck.

I just heard Dana on radio say the UFC is definitely not for sale and he sounded pissed. He said he was going to make a TV deal, and that if it was for sale Lorenzo and Frank would be going to the meeting with him.

I didn't read the article or listen to the interview, but this is links n stuff.

Audio here I guess.

It's still just rumors. What White basically said was "everything is for sale at the right price".

Exact quotes.

Quote:
Cofield: “I heard it from some of the most reputable guys in the business. We were hearing the crazy rumor the last three days that the UFC is on the sales block.”

White: “Yep, I heard that one too. I heard that one last year too… If that was the case and that was what I was doing this week it wouldn’t just be me flying out there. It would be me, Lorenzo, Frank; I mean there’d be an army flying out there if this thing was for sale.

“Listen, the way that I look at business… is your house for sale? … No you’re not selling your house but I bet you that I can buy it. No the UFC is not for sale. (I’m) 38-years old. I love this stuff. We have big plans and we’re working on a lot of things. ”

Cofield: “Have you gone into, say, a TV negotiation and they’re like, okay, ‘Let’s negotiate, negotiate,’ and then they’re like, ‘Okay, how about we buy you?’”

White: “Yeah. Yeah, that has happened.”

Cofield: “So maybe that’s where it came from?”

White: “Yep. There have been many offers made on the UFC. (But) they weren’t big enough. Like your house. Know what I mean? (But) your house isn’t for sale. I think everything in this planet is for sale. You could buy my shoes right now if you offer me the right money. But my shoes aren’t for sale.

“So… No, I’m not flying out of town next week to go sell this thing or anything like that. Hopefully when I come back in town next week I’m gonna at least be in the direction of announcing some big news.”

White’s denial is pretty clear. However, specific buyers have been linked to the rumors and one of the rumored buyers is Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Entertainment.
That said, Dana White is a lying sack of shit, so it's hard to believe a word he says either way. He's like a surly 9-year-old, he'll jump around and do anything for attention.
