Led Zeppelin hints at full scale tour

Taken from Led Zeppelin to go on tour? - Yahoo! News UK

Quote:
Led Zeppelin are preparing for one of the most anticipated comebacks in music history.

Despite the Spice Girls, Boyzone and Take That all reforming recently, it looks like the hottest tickets in town are to see the rock legends take to the stage at the O2 Arena in London.

And rumours are starting to emerge that guitarist Jimmy Page has hinted at a full-scale tour.

The news follows reports that Glastonbury organiser, Michael Eavis, had been involved in talks with the band about performing at the Festival.

But according to one report, negotiations broke down because the price the band quoted to appear at the June event was too high.

Meanwhile, a Led Zeppelin fan from Glasgow, Scotland, paid £83,000 for a pair of tickets to the reunion gig on December 10, as part of an auction for Children In Need.
WTF? £83,000 (approx $166,000) for a pair of tickets?! The gig better be good lol

If they did a tour of the US, would you go?

Robert Plant toured solo just recently. I doubt a full blown tour will happen. They make a fortune just collecting royalties. So if they made a few million extra for a tour it wouldn't affect them much. Also Jones and Plant arent even friends anymore.

Who knows though. When I saw Robert Plant, he gave a little speech about how he was out touring again for the music.

of course not... cause it would cost 300-500 a ticket and be sold out in seconds.

besides that obviously yes most of the world would go if given a real chance

'IF' they did tour, you would be lucky to find 300-500 a ticket judging by the prices the tickets for the gig is going for on ebay...

eBay.co.uk - led zeppelin tickets, led zeppelin, led zeppelin o2, Tickets items at low prices

Take a look at the prices they are bidding for.... unbelievable...

About 10 years ago, at one of the umpeenth reunion shows, my friend's mom was the aromatherapist for the Led Zep entourage.

We got to go backstage and hang out and the entire procession was a grotesque nightmare - some sort of Dali painting animated, from Page being so feeble and spaced out - never mind not even playing most of the guitar on stage that night to their rider consisting of literally gift packages from anonymous .coms looking for venture cash.

They had either JPJones or a JPJ lookalike who looked disinterested with everything, and some session drummer that looked like he was on the way to a michael bolton show.

And of course there was robert plant, who was in full on lesbian wiccan mode. I think he was wearing pants made entirely of bark or mushroom meat.

I loved the behind the scenes view I got of things - especially when the PA jockey would synchronize backing tracks for the parts that neither page nor his standin "I do the solos" anonymous backer would do.

Thrilling, really.

Just an fyi but JPJ is playing with them on this gig in London, as well as Jason Bonham - who is just a figurehead. My pal who's the drummer of Neutral Milk Hotel could play any of their songs on demand and would just be awesome in that role rather than these semi-anonymous wanks who get the role (hey, son or not) almost intentionally to show, by contrast, how awesome bonham was.

It's the thought that counts...

If given the opportunity to see Led Zeppelin live, I would take it in a heartbeat and not think twice. Led Zeppelin is some legendary shit, and their songs will be played for generations. Centuries, even.

You have to consider the fact that those tickets are for a potential one time event. If a nationwide tour happened, tickets sure as hell would be hard to come by, but they all wouldn't be that expensive.

I suppose I'm in the minority here, but while I find Zepplin to be quite the pioneers of their day musically, Jimmy Page is a terrible guitarist, and I never really enjoyed their music at all. They're a great band for sure and they completely reshaped music as we know it, but it just isn't my cup of tea.

So no.. I wouldn't go see them.

Terrible guitarist, really? I've never heard that one. He's the guy that inspired me to pick up my acoustic guitar and keep playing it 8 years ago, easily the most inspirational guitarist in my book. Saying that, I would enjoy seeing them live. Although I probably wouldn't pay more than $300 for a ticket, I don't think I have ever paid more than half that for one.

Obviously you are not a guitarist. Jimmy's playing was intentionally sloppy at times, but so to the point. Listen to his acoustic work, and say that with a straight face.
