Anyways thats what I said right when the trip began, while listening to a Dj play Ambient mix of "The Prophecy Theme" by Brian Eno. (Dune's opening them via 1984)

Truly the Sleeper does Awaken.
i absolutely hated the first dune movie. the funny thing is, i LOVE the books. i thought the sci-fi channel remake was better, but it still left a lot to be desired and i didn't like some of the casting (paul, his mother, his father, the baron, all cast superbly, but duncan, who is so important, left me feeling meh). the first movie was just way too hell bent on making shit crazy just for the sake of being more "sci-fi". biggest pet peave - the navigators looking like some huge crazy fucking fish? wtf? the book suggested that all of the different"races" started out as humans but simply evolved over time to look a little different. hell, even the Tleilaxu (masters) were just described as smaller people with pointy teeth and like blonde hair. i liked dune because it was realistic in the technology that existed in the future and also because they put so little emphasis on fucking lasers and aliens and bullshit like that.

The music is very Dune that is the sad thing. I still like the movie but I understand its an abomination in sorts. However I feel he captures the true essence of Dune (Mise en Scene) but fails completely with the story.
I hated the Sci-Fi versions.

The Fish thing well it talks a bit more about it in his notes ala his sons work in House series. How the Spice gas eventually makes you not human and you become one big pussy mouth looking brain (like Kraig from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) (Honestly I loved House Harkoneen.)

Yeah I love the Tleilaxu man. Evil bastards.

Well Read the house series if you haven't yet. Franks notes + his Son Brian and Kevin Anderson.

Beautiful remake of "At Zanarkand".

I really want to go to one of these concerts sometime. I know they have them in Chicago often.

I found a video of someone playing my most favorite video game song ever on an electric keyboard. I'm not a fan of opera or classical music by any stretch of the imagination, but this piece is done so brilliantly I wonder why I'm not.

Video game music of old (and new) is one of the main reasons why I became so attracted to classical music. Its pretty much my favorite genre. I've also found myself disliking just about anything with lyrics.

Heres another one I found that is pretty cool Piano only. Kinda neat especially since he has a blindfold on to start. Gets more amazing as it continues.

(If you get bored with it at least watch 9:15 till the end)

And here is a different guy doing a medley of Kingdom hearts:

That black mages video was pretty good. Have you heard any S.S.H. (Saitama Saishuu Heiki) remixes of FF6? Those are pretty good. I haven't seen a real video of him, but found this one of at least the music:

Glad I'm not the only one.

I think FF6 was the height of Nobuo Uematsu's music. Seriously, I love every single song in it.

Watching those Black Mage concert videos, they ruined Otherworld... How do you manage to screw that up when you composed it to have a distinct soung?
