Here's the problem...people assume...and you know what assuming makes us?

Did that video actually show WHY that kid was thrown to the ground? No

You cannot just assume they were skating down the street and "la de da" get tackled by a cop and held down by the neck. Give me a break.

Someone said these guys were attacking or harassing someone. Whether thats true or not great, but you cant just assume these are innocent little skateboarders. They did something wrong to deserve getting arrested beyond "grinding" the curb, and they probably deserved it.

Another thing is, if you're approached by a police officer and respect him and not do anything stupid you will not be held to the ground by your neck. It's apparent these kids were fighting the officer either physically or verbally. Show respect and you yourself are given respect. Be a punkass kid and get treated like one. It only takes one idiot in a group to get everyone arrested.

Granted I do not know the whole story and by that video alone nobody does.

That cop lost it, it's fucking apparent. You see the other bicycle cop standing there, doing nothing? Because he's not a piece of shit who abuses his power. He let the two kids run away for a reason, because what the first cop was doing was wrong.

Those kids did not deserve that treatment. Next time you burn a CD from illegally downloaded songs how would you like a police officer storming your home and strangling you? That's what I equate this too...they're riding fucking skateboards.

He wasnt arresting them for skateboarding, he was arresting them for running from the police. If you get pulled over for rolling through a stop sign, but just as the cop gets out of the car, you hit the gas and try to drive away, the cop is going to chase you down and arrest you. Are you then going to yell at the cop that hes a dick and abusing his power by arresting you for rolling through a stop sign? If you do, your an idiot. Just replace car with skateboard and its the same exact scenario. In addition, the article said the kids even pushed/hit him while he was doing this.

You're right. He wasn't arresting them for skateboarding. He arrested the first kid for "fleeing".

In the video he quite clearly states to the kid:

"When I tell you to stop and you keep going, that's fleeing. It's a violation of city ordinance and disorderly conduct."

So a better example would be:

"If you were driving your car and some cop yelled at you to stop then jumped through your car window and put you in a headlock then dragged you out onto the cement and claimed you were under arrest for "fleeing" which is "disorderly conduct" which is in "violation of city ordinance". Then after you've been cuffed he says you're also under arrest for "battery" for the scrape he got on his knee after using far more force than the situation required. And once you were good and hand cuffed he grabbed your friend and started swinging her around in a WWF headlock saying that she was under arrest for "disorderly conduct"

Because in your example a law was actually broken, by running a stop sign.

"Fleeing" = "Disorderly Conduct" = (which is a) "Violation of City Ordinance" (and is) = "Against the law" + "Battery" (because he scraped his knee as he was bending down to choke you"

I think the cop was just pissed off having to run after a bunch of teenagers, and he overreacted. I think that's the bottom line. You can debate about him being right or wrong in the first place, but nobody can deny he overreacted.

Blue car ran a red, but the scooter guy should have seen him coming. Looks like the blue car was already entering the intersection when the scooter was coming in, looks like he was making a left.

It actually doesn't look that bad. The scooter guy impacted on the car, rather then the car impacting him. And if the car hadn't had hit the median it probably would have run over him.
