+286 Internets | Goodbye, FOH; thanks for the fish. Well, the time has come. My cancer has spinal mets and I've been feeling pretty shitty lately, so this is it as far as forum posts go. I bought an iPhone recently so I could do something in the hospital, so I'll keep lurking. I try to stay positive, but I have to be reAlistic at the same time. Supposedly, my "expressive aphasia" will be the first to kick in due to the mets proximity to my vertebral and carotid pattern. Before that happens, I wanted to say a few things. First off, what is an Internet forum? Is it just some random place to subject others to your point of view, a place to make friends that you'll never see face to face, or is it something more? Second, can an environment that is completely non-tactile really reproduce tactile emotions? I'd say yes. I haven't posted much over the last several months, but I've always wondered what has been going on. This random forum on a web of millions of similar forums became my default, digital home. It was always a place to laugh and make others laugh in turn. It became a place a looked forward to visiting after work, on weekends, etc. From allstar trolls to the most respected posters, I've come to enjoy all the personalities on here. To the moderation, I've come to respect and still laugh along. To all the scandals, epic wins, and abject retardedness, all I can do is smile. It's odd to think of people one has never met as "friends.". Maybe that's an odd way our, and future generations, will think of it. Anyways, I just wanted to not only express my thanks, but also my gratitude. Nobody really knows me and I don't really know anybody else; but that never seemed to matter. If I recover, then forget all this nonsense, but if I don't, then all I want everyone to know is howuch I appreciated all the laughs over the years. Despite what some may think on a day to day basis, this small corner of the virtual world has the ability to touch lives. I'm proof. Screenshots was always my home, so it seemed fitting to post this here. I'll miss every one of you. Thank you again for always making me laugh. -Brian

| I used your signature as my fantasy football teams avatar last season, I didn't win but I got a few laughs along the way. And looking back at some of the famous threads I always skipped through and mostly only read yours and a couple others posts because you guys were kind of the anchors. Like the Kate thread for example, most of the posts are drivel but if you only read the ones by the same 4-5 people you got the just of it. Not sure if that makes sense, but I'm tired and my nose is running. |
