I didn't personally dress up, however a few friends and I went to Mastodon/Dethklok here in the DC area on Halloween, and one of them went as Snake Plissken. He got stopped a lot for pictures, and I think he pulled it off rather well.

Did you have the ghostbusters pack vacuum formed or do you have one?

I bought a vacu-shell base, pictured below. The rest I made with mostly PVC and wooden dowels. The gun was scratch built from MDF and plastic pieces from a For Sale sign hehe and other misc parts I managed to dig up.

The biggest pain was wiring some LEDs to make it light up. You can see the blue chase light on the left and the red reflectors all flash.
