"I Wish I didn't read that..." Your worst spoiler moments

We've all pretty much had those moments... the moments where either we read something too far ahead, or have that idiot friend who goes "Oh and when he dies... er, wait no I mean... fuck, sorry bud." Which spoilers have been your worst to fuel that nerdrage and crush even your childhood dreams? I have two, and while they are used so god damn often, they are the two most disappointing spoiler moments for myself. Seriously, these two are so common that I probably shouldn't even spoiler tag them, but at least I'll set a format so people don't get fucked over with examples later on...

in the last season of the wire, my friend uploaded a .gif of the scene (the season had been leaked at that point) to my facebook. I looked at it without realizing what I was seeing at first. I'll never forgive him for that.

Of course, a while later, he missed the Lost season finale, where the reveal was Locke being in the coffin, so I took a picture of it and texted it to him.

Not being particularly fond of fantasy fiction I hadn't ever read Lord of the Rings and was kinda hesitant to see the films but I goaded into seeing the first one anyway. When I expressed how disappointed I was that Gandalf got drug into the abyss, that someone should have at least tried to help him, one of the people most vocal about my needing to go with was kind enough to immediately explains what happens next and that Gandalf comes back.

That's funny, cause I kind of reverse spoiled that for myself.

I hadn't read the books either, and I didn't watch the first movie when it was in theaters. I found myself in a hotel one night in St. Louis, and I had nothing to do, so I pay-per viewed the movie.

Shortly after he got dragged down into the pit, I rolled over the remote and changed the channel. I couldn't figure out how to get back to the movie, but it had been around 2 hours, so I figured that was close to the end anyway. It seemed like a fitting stopping point for the first movie.

Months later, I watched the DVD, and was surprised to find an extra hour of content after that point.

I remember when FF VII came out and I was like 13 or so... my brother was older and hadn't played as much as my neighbor friend and I. My neighbor came over and said to my brother "How far are you? Has Aeris died yet?" and my brother was definitely not that far.

I think he chased him out of the house and down the street with an aluminum bat.

Still, I think I was... 14 or so at the time of playing, and this was before we could just instantly look up shit on the web. So at the time of playing it, I had a guidebook ... back when they were actually meant to be useful! Only this one fucked me over real hard. Generally I was kind of using it to check things I had already done to make sure I had not missed items. One fateful day however, I decided to skip a few pages ahead just to see what fights lie ahead. And low and behold .... After you lay Aeris to rest and part your ways yada yada yada we are a fucking bullshit cocksucking guide ...... "What??? Why???? WHY????????" That piece of shit guide went right into the trash after. Lord of The Rings: Return of the King Spoiler Alert, click show to read: Yes yes everyone and their mom knows this one now. I was reading the books right around the time the movies were coming out. The copy of Return of the King I had had all this stuff in the back of the book since Tolkien just loved to write and write and write...... and write some more. Most of it was just lore stuff, however, there was also a timeline which had basically all the events of the War of the Ring in it. So naturally I figured long as I didn't read the very end I'll be fine. But NO. TOLKIEN LOVES TO FUCKING WRITE AND WRITE AND WRITE. Stupid me, how the fuck was I supposed to know that the climax was practically halfway in the middle of the timeline, as it was so important to know what every character ate and shit out for years and years after the ring was destroyed. Reading 'Gollum seizes ring and falls into cracks of mount doom' sent me into convulsions before I could even register what the fuck happened. That was one time where I tried with all my will to just forget the last 10 seconds of my life.
