Looks like you are getting a similar laptop, but I'd ask for specific changes on a few of those components. That resolution does look low.

Good customer service I'd say, even though they should have replaced it as a lemon on the HD.

I have the G2S model, and it's a beast for a laptop. My brother also has one, and both of our video card or monitor went out and had to be sent back in. Their Customer Service was ridiculously good. Sent it off on Monday and had it back Wednesday and have never had a problem with it since.

In his defense, a lot of warranty's include an accidental damage clause. They'll probably investigate the shit out of the story, and may end up denying it, but often times with the clause if it looks like it just a brain fart accident, they'll hook you up.

In all honesty...this is actually pretty typical. At least, from what I've seen. Not trying to defend the guy here, but I know some smart individuals that you wouldn't realize from their speech or "typing skills". Not saying that's normal, but look back in history. The majority of our "best and brightest" had plenty of issues in other aspects of their lives.

I have the ASUS G2 which has the same video card (NVidia8600M). Seriously you should take anything they will give you. That 8600m line of video cards contain a manufacturing defect and so even if they fix it under warranty it is just a ticking time bomb and it will break again. The issue was so bad that when I sent it away I had to wait 10 weeks for the replacement as they were all out of motherboards (the graphics card is integrated so they have to replace the whole mobo for the repair on the G2) due to the high number of warranty claims. I begged them to give me an alternative model as my warranty period is ending shortly so I will be shit out of luck next time it dies.

Glad you aren't getting the same raw deal.
