Has anyone ever visited Iceland?

Thinking about going there for vacation. Wondering if anyone has traveled there and can school me on what to expect.

I've heard there are other forums on foh that aren't screenshots, but I pay not attention to such silly rumors.

i've only seen a little bit of keflavik on a flight through with a short stop. what was cool, though, was the aurora borealis from the window on the way in, and watching the sunrise off the ocean cliffs. it's definately on my list of places to go, with volcanoes and bikini's in hot springs etc

Common misconception. GREENland is covered in Ice. Iceland is very geothermal, and has Volcanoe's and hotsprings and other neat stuff.

Now you see why I'm making this thread.

Apparently, Iceland is the size of Ohio (where I live) and has a population that's less than half of the city of Columbus. Most of the people (allegedly) live around the capital city.

Is it a country of Vikings turned inbred hick that I should avoid like the plague? Or is it actually as fresh as it looks from the travel video. I mean... this site makes Cleveland actually look like it's a cool place to visit... whereas here we have the truth about Cleveland. So... is Iceland like the first site or the second?

I've been there, a few years ago. Stayed in the capital.

It was alright- pretty cold, super expensive and the women were hot. The water from the taps stank of sulphur. Not much really to report.

Can we get some facts on how expensive shit is there? I read that alcohol is ridiculously priced, but everything else is pretty normal. Can anyone confirm?

Well, put it this way. I went 10 years ago roughly and a pizza at the time cost me 19 pounds sterling (about 30 dollars). Craaaaazy.

I was there for a weekend, stopping over on the way to NY from London. So in the context of NY and London, Reykjavik was one of the most expensive places i've ever been. Only the 7 euro beer I had in paris a few weeks back managed to shock me more (11 dollar pint of beer).

Sorry my info isn't more upto date. It's been a long while.
