I mean, come on. If some simple common sense were used, tazings would go down a ton. You're not going to win an argument with a cop. If you're not happy with his performance, you either go to court or you report his badge number to his superiors. You don't have any reason at all to be arguing with him, and doing it means it's only going to end badly for you, so just fucking knock it off. Take your ticket, admit you're being a dumbfuck and go on your way. It's the same way the union deals with management at my work. Yes, management may in fact be out of line with what they ask you to do, but you do it, and then you grieve it later. That's the process. There's the same process in the legal system in this country, and more often than not, if you got a citation or a charge that's unwarranted, a judge will look at it and throw it out anyway. | |

| You know, my dad did once when I was a kid. He basically rolled through a stop sign in the neighborhood that shouldn't have been a fucking stop sign in the first place, and a cop pulled him over for it. Now, our neighborhood was basically a square. Not like generally in the shape of, or lots of little streets going in and out of a square based neighborhood pattern. I'm talkin a short ass fucking square that was maybe a mile all the way around. I'm talkin less than 300 goddamn people in the entire thing. Imagine the supreme asshole-ishness you need to park your ass in this neighborhood, where literally no one in the entire existence of it has been so much as honked at, let alone hit, and you've got the mentality of the cop right there. But then when he was getting ready to write the ticket my dad says, you know you can't write that. The cop, of course, was like. What? The fuck I can't? My dad says nope, you were parked on the wrong side of the street, and that's dangerous considering the flow of traffic here. It would be hypocritical, sir. And sure enough he was let the fuck off. So yeah. I've seen it happen before.

+2 Internets | Hmm, I still ate the ticket, but I won on the karmic scale. Couple summers back I was driving a friends car from the shop to his house. He lived about 70 miles from where the work was getting done on the car, and it was close to my work, so he asked me to pick it up and drive it out on a Friday. Well I was speeding and got a ticket, fair enough. Where to story goes off the rails is when I went to look for the registration and found that it wasn't in the car. It seems that the shop doing the work didn't notice that the registration was tucked into the side console of the drivers door when they replaced it. So, long story short: The officer took my keys and drivers license, left me on the side of the road and told me he would be back in an hour, by which time my friend was to be there with a copy of the registration and proof of ownership or the car was going to impound and I was going to a holding cell. Almost 2 hours later he comes rolling up, looks at the paperwork, is a general douche about the situation (read that as he wrote out a ticket for everything he could possibly charge me with in the situation), hands me the keys and drives off....with my drivers license still shoved squarely up his over-ego'd ass. Several phone calls to the department and 2 days later, he shows up at my doorstep and appologizes to me. PS: All charges were dropped except the speeding ticket, which I would have gladly accepted and paid in the first place. As I was, you know...speeding. |

| Had a cop give me a ticket for "speeds unsafe for conditions" when he wasn't able to clock me with his radar because he wasnt even trying to clock people when i flew right the fuck by him. Went into court the next day with a printed copy of the weather report from the night before and the judge dismissed the ticket. |

| The lady was moving toward the driver's side door. If she slipped around the cop, ran out into traffic, was hit, and killed this would be a hell of a more serious story. Bitch is a liar and deserved what she got.

+3 Internets | Ive never put myself into a situation to have to argue with a police officer. Sure, she maybe should not have been tased because she was old and tiny, but she put herself in the situation to be tased or worse when she refused to follow the law and sign her citation and then resist the officer. What sucks is that she will still probably win in court or just settle out because its cheaper for the agency than trying to fight it.

| I really don't approve of tasers. There really isn't a need for them. If they don't want to cooperate you can do a lot of things other than tazing an elderly woman. When people wouldn't get out of vehicles for me on felony stops, I'd simply tell them that that was fine. A unit with a canine would be out in a matter of moments and we'd be happy to send in the dog to have him removed from the vehicle. Now, felony stops have a lot more to them than some old lady. Not saying that the cop was in the right or the wrong, because I haven't seen the video and/or audio since I'm at work, and NMCI doesn't allow such things as that, unfortunately. But I'm sure he could have found a way to de-escalate the situation were he semi-intelligent. But we all have bad days, and nobody is without flaws, especially law enforcement officers.

But you always have people that are just assholes. You'll find them anywhere and everywhere you go. It just sucks when they are placed in a position of authority.
