I have had this discussion with one of my buddies before and we came to several conclusions:

1) The rate of human rape would go down. There would still be some, but people would now have an outlet to let go of their sexual energy if they really felt the urge. Robots could be programmed to boost one's self-esteem, etc.. Of course there would still be some rape cases as many rapists do it just for the power trip over another human. In general though, the rate would decline.

2) Human population would begin to decrease is many of the rich countries where people could afford them, and continue on the rise in countries that could not afford them. When people are given the option to fuck Jessica Biel whenever they have the option and have the robot tell them how great they are, they are going to have a greater resistance to a woman bitching at them and not being in the mood, etc.. Humans would still reproduce, but simply less.

3) The cost of the robots could easily be as much as a car is now, and be justified. Given the robot could do all kinds of household chores along with fuck whenever you wanted, I could easily see people blowing $600 a month to lease one (or more, just like cars there would be luxury models).

4) The initial robots would be very humanlike, but there would be the crowd of fetish people that would want bizarre models, like Japanese dick-girls and furry horses with giant pussies, or an octopus with 8 dicks at the end. All kinds of weird shit.

5) Having a model that would just shut the fuck up when you're done with it, and go stand in the closet until you turn it back on again, would be awesome. This temptation would be too much for some people and they would become obsessed over these fake humans and in essence end their family / bloodlines. Just like drugs, people on the fringe would lose their shit, quit their job, and just stay home fucking all day until they are completely sore. There would have to be helpcenters / counseling to help people who fell into this addiction.

Ultimately it could potentially be the nail in the coffin for humanity if things went the wrong way. Humankind would face possible extinction unless they programmed the robots to breed, in which case the first human / robot hybrids would be rejected by society and seen as outcasts. Once robots began to breed amongst themselves humans would become extinct. I don't know that humans would survive such an invention without destroying conventional society as we know it. Then again it could lead to a better humanity in the end, kind of how like the chaos of the internet finally settled to what it is today from the wild wild west mentality that pervaded in the 1990's.

If they had a centralized circulatory system, then heat would be able to be maintained fairly evenly across the surface. The heat itself could be created from any number of different things, even just dissipating the heat generated from bodypart movement (in essence using the energy waste that would power the motors and such).

I must say having a loving girlfriend is way more than just sex. There is just something about having the love a woman who has free will and can make her own choices yet she chooses you that could never be replicated.

Even with rampant sexbots I would see me leaning towards the fleshy kind still.

True - most people would get bored after a while of the sex bot always telling them how great they are, etc. but many people would lose the tolerance of putting up with someone just because they like getting sex from them. In essence it would expose a lot of the fucked up relationship problems that already existed underneath and bring them to the surface.

People with true, loving, relationships would be unaffected and not have any need of one.
