| Saw this video earlier and it makes no sense. I don't know the intricacies of the rules as to how you win but doesn't it involve pinning? How do you pin with no joints? Basic laws of physics as to how to apply pressure. Second, why didn't the other guy just simply tackle the cripple the first time he charged? With no joints there's absolutely nothing he can do to someone holding him from behind. Should have been pinned in 15 seconds. But on the general topic of handi-"capable" it's a crock of shit and the same can be said of any group that wants the pros but not the cons that come as a result of a particular attribute, be it sex, race, handicap, orientation, etc. It's a double standard regardless of the context and double standards are never legitimate. If some attribute marks a noticeable difference between yourself and someone else, you either take all the good and all the bad, or take neither, and honestly I'd be fine with either. |

+3 Internets | I guess the other fighter refused to wrestle with the guy with no limbs. Since he cant kick because the other guy is on his knees technically, he can only punch the guy in the head. Even if he did grapple him, how would the guy tap out with no arms? I just think this fight should have never happend. If someone has a missing leg, or a real handicap, I see no problem with them getting a placard. If they are just fat or use some other excuse to be lazy and get a good parking spot, I feel like taking out someones leg to give them a reason to have a placard.

+1 Internets | The fight actually wasn't sanctioned by an athletic commission. It was originally going to take place in Georgia I think but the commission there refused to sanction it so it was moved to Alabama instead which does not have a governing body to sanction fights. Under American unified rules soccer kicks and knees to the head of a grounded opponent are not allowed which is a large part of why he was able to compete at all. Maynard has actually been pretty successful in the past in wrestling but that really doesn't translate to MMA when you have you real chance of getting the other guy to the ground. |

| First off, don't hand me "his knees are on the ground, don't kick him". Show me his knees and we'll see if they're on the ground. The OTHER guy was handicapped in this 'fight'. Second, here in Florida I've seen pre-pressed, fresh from the state, handicap MOTORCYCLE plates. I irl facepalmed. EDITED for spelling |
