+166 Internets | I know this is 6 years later and all, but you should have emailed. Got so much done that way. First example was around ToV era, I traded a PoM card to a friend, it poofed during trade. I petition, GM tells me that he sees that I trade it but he can't reimburse it because it did actually go into someone's inventory but he can't tell me whose. So I have our entire guild check their bags, nobody sees it. I tell the GM that nobody can find it. He tells me that sorry, he cannot tell me who I traded it to. I point out how utterly ridiculous this is and he wishes me a good day. Long story short, after about 8 more guides/gm's and several emails to Sony, I get my card back along with a long apology about the poor service and that they will talk to the GM who mishandled my petition in the first place. Fast foward about a year to another incident... Doing the coldain prayer shawl quest, the last part where you escort the dwarf. We have a wizard along who is KoS to dwarves but standing well out of agro range. He goes LD and then comes running up out of nowhere and nukes the shit out of the dwarf. I stand there in horror as my shit gets eaten. I petition a GM and he tells me too bad so sad, start from Coldain shawl #1. I say this is horseshit and email Sony again. Same story, a handful of GM's and emails later and I get my shit refunded and a letter apologizing for the terrible CS. Some more... On Ayonae Ro we had a guide/gm thingy named Mikamira who was taking cock injections from the guild leader of a rival guild. This led to much hilarity. Our entire guild got a warning for 'exploiting' Yelinak by firing arrows at him prior to engaging to build hate for the warrior (this was already a well-established tactic in Ssra by now for rooted mobs). We had XTC despawned on us at 2% because an FD monk in their guild claimed we leapfrogged him as his guild was prepping for it. Eventually a higher tier GM showed up and said, "Haha what bullshit" and respawned XTC for us, though at full health because they're such nice guys. Eventually Mikamira was fired I guess for fucking with people in the nexus. WoW shenanigans... Haven't really needed much in the way of help with WoW GM's. Only real event was about a month after release when we zoned into Molten Core only to find the entire zone despawned. We petitioned, eventually the GM responds saying, "Have you tried deleting your interface and wtf folders and relogging?" I would imagine everyone would have a tale like that from that era though. "Hey your website is declining my credit card." "Have you tried deleting your interface and wtf folders and relogging?" ~ Anyways...interesting note, when you server transfered in EQ it apparently wiped out any warnings you would have had on your account. I had been warned like 3 or 4 times for pathing exploits on Cazic-Thule (soooo many pathing sploits...yumdiddilyumptious). We server transfered to Ayonae Ro and a few days later I get caught again for pathing sploits. GM says, "Since this is your first infraction I'm going to let you go, please don't ever do so again." or something along the lines. I nearly giggled with glee and sploited pathing happily until I got a temp ban like 2 years later when a GM caught me in Acrylia abusing the shit out of that zone as well. I could probably have gotten off with a warning on that one as well but he showed up while I was AE'ing like 40 mobs that were bugged just out of reach. | i've been thinking of which story i want to tell. There are thousands. I think i will tell a story that happened to a friend of mine on UO while he was a GM there. UO had this policy of name changes that meant changing your name to something random. This required him dropping an NPC into the field and taking it's name. It happened that the NPC was named Gaylord, so he chuckled and renamed the player Gaylord. The rest of the night my friend received petition after petition about being homophobic. I'm not really sure how that logic works but that's a UO player for you.

+75 Internets | Man Athelan was a really cool dude, wonder what he's doing now The chances of return of epic items was really dependent on if the GM actually did their epic quest or not. Normal policy was to just deny players I.E. "Working as intended". If we followed policy, we actually had to go out of our way to get approval to reimburse epic related stuff. Most times I just gave the shit back if I could see tradelogs or character saves and verify you had the items at one point. After giving the items back I'd listen to their tells and see what they told their friends. Most of the time it was "Man thank god he gave it back stupid NPC" or "I fucked up but he reimbursed me anyway". I don't think I ever saw something malicious. Before I started working there, I fucked up my enchanter epic quest. I forgot to combine the dusts before turning it in and never got reimbursed. Lost my Hate and Fear dusts, it was awful. That cost me server first epic, i didn't get it done for another 2-3 months. I think that and losing my Inky-mask (accidentally traded it to my pet, I never got it back from GMs and only got one after spending tons of plat in the casino) was the 2 most devastating events in my EQ career. I think an old guildie of mine was in there. Zilor and Tumlaana. He had kind of a reputation on the boards as a dick. But was a pretty funny guy in guild. Last edited by Chanur; 04-09-2009 at 06:10 PM.. | |

| Had a GM show up on Tunare back in Sol Ro's zone when our guild was working pop mobs around 2003 or so. He turned himself into Sol Ro and messed with us for a bit, was fun to see someone at Sony interacting with us. |

| You must be kidding. I was reading your log there and was 100% sure I was going to get to the end and the GM would say, "Lulz, j/k here's ur item!" What a bunch of horseshit. I'm so glad nothing like that ever happened to me. I'm pretty sure I would have simply quit and not had the good memories of EQ that I do have.

| My guild was in Kael and was in process of clearing to statue. Well Our 2 main tanks were there and they started dueling... All of a sudden statue spawns on top of the raid, one shots the one tanks and then ignores everyone else and walks back up the ramp... Hilarity ensued. We knew it had to of been a GM or something but we didnt se or hear from anyone lol... Another time I was on my SK in Kaesora and I got lost in there, I would barley get my FD's off before I died and had to lay there to get health to try and run around some more to try and get out.. after a while I knew I wasnt gonna get out and it would be a bitch to try and get my corpse.. so I petitioned a guide, he was cool about the whole thing he zoned me to the entrance. Then there was this time right after pop came out I was leveling pretty hard core and was 64 one of the top lvl's on the server. and I know some of you remember the bug where (i forget exactly what you did to lose the lvls) but I lost my levels and was at 60.. So i petitioned a gm... he was like okay im gonna kill you *you have been struck down by the gods* then he rezes me and is like hmm didnt work and he strikes me down again... another 100% rez and he does it again.. im laughin my ass off and then he starts granting me levels braught me back up to 64 again and I was barely in when i lost it and he braught me to more than halfway to 65 was a fun experience with a gm. |

| my friend was accidentally made a gm. a gm logged onto my friend's character to find out why a quest npc was not handing out the quest item. the gm discovered my friend had the item in the bank, but did something wrong in the process of the investigation. my friend had full gm powers for several hours.
