Another one for you guys...

I was so sick for about a week. I was throwing up, diarrhea, the whole nine yards. I hurt so bad that when I would sit down sometimes I would get sick and puke on myself. I also noticed I was constantly... leaking out of my ass. No matter what I did or how I laid I would just keep on leaking. Finally I called me Dr. and she told me to go to the emergency room that it sounded like I had an inflamed colon.

So I went to the ER. My doctor had called a head so they took me straight back. This perfect 10 chick walks in and says she is a friend of my Dr. and that she had asked her to come see me but in order for her to see if I had an inflamed colon she was going to have to do a finger probe to see. I was like wtf ever I no longer care I am in so much pain and misery that I didn't care what she did. So she then tells me to stand up, take off my pants and underwear and lay facing the wall. I just stare at her for a sec, shrug, strip and claim up on the table and face the wall. She then squirts something cold and wet on my asshole. I'm look over at her and she pops on a glove. I was like oh shit... and I could feel myself leaking... I was so fucking embarrassed but again like I said I was so miserable I just had to have some relief. She then tells me... this might hurt a little David.

No let me stop here and let you in on a little secret. If a Dr. you just met calls you by your first name... be scared. They are fixing to either tell you something life altering or they are about to hurt you beyond your ability to process it. For me this time it was the latter.

I feel her put her finger to my anus and start sticking her finger in a little at a time then pulling it back out. I was like wtf... she's fingering my ass... I was grinning.. that's when she stuck her finger all the way in...

I was told later that I screamed so loud that I tore my larynx and that they heard me on the other side of the hospital.

All I remember is the world went bright white and then dark. It felt like someone had taken a spear and shoved it up my ass and out the top of my head. I passed out. I woke up about 5 mins later and there were 4 nurses, and 2 Dr.s besides the chick... all of them were staring at my ass and cock... I then noticed the female Dr. was covered in blood and shit... apparently when she stuck her finger in my ass my colon was so enlarged she popped something open and blood and shit came exploding out of my ass onto her, the table, and the floor. They scheduled me for immediate surgery and went in and repaired the tear. I laid in bed another month while it healed and to get over the infection that was running through my system where the shit had made me septic...

I never did see that doctor again.

It's hard to look back on pain and know what the worst is.. probably because I haven't had anything too serious.

I broke my arm jumping out of a swing when I was around 5 years old.. - My chain slipped on my bike around 12 and I went head first into the concrete, but I was just about unconscious and didn't feel anything. - I poured alcohol inside a blister on my foot the other day and that wasn't too great. - Back in little leagues I pitched a game and pulled my right arm. I was up screaming all night because nothing would take the pain away. Other than that some really bad headaches where you just want to sleep but you cant and some ear infections as a kid.

I'm extremely terrified of Kidney stones.. I know my diet for most of my life has been extremely shitty.. Lots of cheese, dairy products, high sodium, etc etc. probably was dehydrated growing up from all the cokes and little water.

I've been eating healthier on and off for the last few years. Sort of like a come and go type thing. Now I don't really see any other way to live..

I stopped drinking caffeine 3 months ago, stopped eating candy 2 months ago, and stopped eating cheese a month ago. Basically all I drink is water and sometimes orange juice.

With you guys who had kidney stones.. what was your health like? weight? family history? diet? I know I pretty much lived on cheese my entire life until now and the results are amazing.

I've been thinking about trying this, giving up the caffeine. Was it hard for you? I have a few buddies that did it and they were WRECKS in the beginning. How is your energy level now? Good sleep and a meal levels, or handful of Adderall level?

I relized I was addicted to caffeine and the amount of sugar I was getting through coke was probably what was causing part of my lack of energy no matter how much I slept.

I went from drinking 6+ cokes a day, to drinking straight water for 3 days, then 0-1 cokes a day. . that was last sunday and I've been doing fine.

The first day or 2 was quite miserable. . headache that wouldn't go away no matter what, grumpy as shit. . but I just warned my friends and toughed it out and now I drink mostly water. . and do fine.

I never had problems sleeping due to caffeine. . but I can def tell a difference in my energy levels now.

yea 2-3 days after you quit the caffeine its constant headaches for 2-5 days.. then your good. Some caffeine is good for you especially after big workouts to restore glycogen (Post-exercise Caffeine Helps Muscles Refuel). As for soda, It's funny thinking that I used to put that disgusting shit in my body.. my outlook now is instead of rewarding myself with some cookies or cake, I reward myself with something healthy.

Not really pain related but people swear caffeine can help cause kidney stones.

My doctors said my excessive amounts (6 or so cans a day) of Mountain Dew when I was a teen is probably what caused mine.

Side note I quit drinking excessive amounts of caffeine last January, the first month was pretty awful. Constant headache, grumpy all the time, but the months that followed were pretty amazing. Energy levels sky-rocketed and I felt great after quitting. Went straight up cold turkey to quit.

I was a mess when I quit caffeine. Insane headaches for a week or so, and had a lot of trouble concentrating as well as constantly tired and irritable for another week or two. But I was well beyond the 'cup or two of coffee a day' stage.

People often underestimate how much of an effect heavy caffeine consumption can have on your daily mood and energy levels. It's something you notice in retrospect, but I'm a lot calmer, a lot less wound up and slightly more stable now that I'm not basically living on caffeine pills and energy drinks. Physically I feel a lot better as well.

I also found I've got some kind of rebound sensitivity. I used to wake myself up by washing down a caffeine pill with a bottle of red bull, then repeat that 2 - 4 times a day just to get me through work and still be exhausted by the end of the day, but now I drink a single bottle of coke and I'm bouncing all over the place and really jittery.

Chipped Tooth

I split a molar.

I was scheduled to see a dentist within a day or two and was just taking it easy eating soft foods and not chewing on that side of my mouth.

I was in high school and during lunch there were some free bags of lays chips for some reason. I grabbed some and popped a chip in my mouth without thinking about it... next thing I know my face is twitching and on fire. A little piece of deep fried tater had gotten lodged inside the tooth and was diligently sawing it's way through the nerve.

I broke into a sweat, had blurry vision, was slurring my speech, kept having tiny black outs and was dizzy as hell... I must have looked drunk.

I was out of it and could barely tell the school officials what was up. I got an immediate opening later that day with another dentist and had the tooth extracted.

That was an unreal level of pain. It was Just so overwhelming all I wanted to do was lay down and go to sleep, and I couldn't sleep because of the pain.

I stopped caffeine cold turkey the first of the year. As others have said it sucks for the first week or two. I only drink water and occasional juice or gatorade. I have a lot more energy. I figured it would be the other way around but I am surprised how much more energy I have drinking only water. I also started exercising at night, which helps with the energy levels. I need less sleep now to stay energetic all day, then when I was drinking soda and coffee.

Broken Hand

Maybe not quite the most painful experience, but a well documented experience was when I broke my hand.

I got kicked in the right hand while playing ultimate frisbee, and it snapped my 4th metacarpal. It didn't hurt that bad at the initial break, but I knew something was really wrong and when I looked at my hand the knuckle of my ring finger was about an inch lower than normal and there was this bulge coming out of my palm. I got it splinted up and went to the hospital when we all got back home.

They tried just setting it twice, so once after my initial hospital visit, and once after I got to see a hand specialist. Unfortunately it wouldn't set since it was a clean break, so I had to get a plate put in. I asked the hand surgeon if she could snap a couple pictures during surgery, and here's one of the best ones.

It's a little graphic, so watch out.

Damn after reading those kidney stone descriptions I just went to buy a bottle of water.

On the caffeine thing, I have heard it dehydrates you somehow? So could indirectly influence kidney stones. Maybe.

I quit caffeine completely as well. I'll do decaf mochas and I still get the placebo effect, even though they are 99.9% caffeine free.

My senior year during basketball tryouts I had a muscle spasm in my back. Having to jump and run sprints and what not sucked pretty badly. I also tore a hamstring in track my freshman year...that was no fun.

My friend's pit bull kicked me in the balls once a few years ago after we smoked a couple blunts...I tried to walk it off like it was nothing, but it was like getting blue balls x43...My vision blurred and I heard a loud explosion in my head and I began moving about very sluggishly with a ghostly complexion...I thought I was going to have a heart attack and die...little did I know, I was only on the verge of passing out.

4th grade, I was on a pogo stick under my carport and I pogo'd into a grease spot from my moms car while I was waiting for soccer practice. I woke up in a chair with my front tooth chipped in half, a ridiculous bump on my forehead the size of a burrito and and a concussion. The nerve on my tooth was exposed and that was probably the worst pain of all. I haven't liked going to the dentist ever since.

I have a few over the years, dislocated fingers, broken fingers, torn muscles, appendix but the most pain I ever suffered to date was from a motorcycle accident when I was 22.

I was with some friends at a motorcycle race meeting and the group I was with decided to hop on our bikes and ride over to a better spot, I got on my bike and slowly pulled away when one of my “friends” decided to pop a wheelie on his GS1000 lose control and nailed me in the side.

The bike went down and my left foot got trapped between the foot peg and the road as I slid. At that time I was only wearing trainers (sneakers) so my ankle was bare to the road and even though I was barely moving at the time and the road was smooth tarmac my ankle bone was ground flat by the time I came to a halt. The surgeon commented that if I was traveling any faster or the road surface was anything but smooth tarmac I would have lost my ankle.

Once someone had lifted the bike off me there was a gaping hole with tendons and the like hanging out of my ankle and tarmac all embedded in the wound. The funny thing is I don’t even recall any pain from the initial accident the over whelming pain I suffered was days later when I had to have some road debris still in the wound removed and cleaned because of an infection and the fear of the skin graft not taking, they gave me no pain killers and just said “this will hurt a little but it wont last long” fuck me I almost passed out, I have never felt so much pain in all my life and to this day it makes me cringe when I think about it, the image of these two cowboys digging in on my ankle that looked like a piece of raw meat and me screaming like a little girl.

Took me a year to recover and to this day I still have some nerve damage (cant bare to touch the skin around the ankle) and 70% mobility. I always wear boots when I ride now that’s for sure.

My thing is, I KNOW what energy is, through stupid choices in my past. I've had 200mgs of Adderall swimming through my blood, even meth a time or 2. Nothing I'm proud of, but now "natural energy", no matter how great, I'm always comparing it to those experiences. I would like to get someone who has experiment with some form of uppers to compare that experience to the energy levels obtained through quitting caffeine.

You can't compare with other people because everyone's body functions differently on so many levels. Take the liver for one.. if your liver is fatty from eating too much saturated fat (CHEESE), or having a hard time processing processed meat, medicine, or chemicals than your energy can be extremely affected. In other words if your liver is hell and you take uppers, someone who doesn't have liver problems and takes the same thing will feel much more energized.

That's just the beginning of how you can't compare energy levels. I can tell you straight up after quitting caffeine and cheese I've noticed a huge difference in my energy levels and mental attitude. You need to realize that your body still needs a good 8 hours of sleep. People seem to think that they don't have much energy come around 10pm when they are tired - but this is normal if your waking up at 6am.

Quitting caffeine is insanely easy because of all the other options out there. Try quitting cheese while living in Texas.. it's insane. One correlation I've noticed with people who don't like cheese is that they're insanely ripped. I've already noticed huge results in the one month I've been off cheese.
