Why do people act so retarded in zombie movies?

The guy with the bat went all 'hurr imma one man army' and then went down 'blargh i be ded' and fucked everybody over.

I know that if I were with a group of people during a zombie uprising, I'd want to use team work as much as possible.

There are very few intelligent people in horror movies. It's much easier to write a scenario with retarded or emotionally unstable characters.

Also, zombie movies usually take place in a world where there have never been any zombie movie before. In those films, nobody ever knows what is happening and the rules about zombies. I bet most of you would barely be surprised. "Zombie apocalypse? Fucking finally!"

Edit: Cool link, by the way. I thought it's be some viral marketing shit about a real movie. Any info on who did that? Or why?

I, like all red blooded males, would love a zombie apocalypse. Ever since I read World War Z nothing has seemed cooler.

The movie was ok, but didn't really reward you for proper zombie survival procedures, and wasn't nearly long enough to be that interesting, unfortunately.

The best choice would have been to get as far away as possible from large population centers, or if that is not feasible, blocking the stairs and taking refuge on a higher floor.

The retard going after the swarm armed only with a bat could have been very helpful actually, would give everyone in the house some time to make a tactical retreat. The people in the movie were also making way too much noise, and drawing every zombie to them. Very poor form.
