I'd take like 1/2 and set up trust funds for every close family member or friend who has ever done something significant for me. I'd rather they get 10-30k a year in interest to help them live comfortably then just give them 5mil and watch them crash&burn with it.

I'd put aside 5 mil for "spend money" just money to spend on whatever stupid shit I feel like and get that out of my system, and I'd just put the rest in a very solid interest bearing investment and live off the interest for the rest of my life and donate it all to charity when I die.

With the 5mil I'd likely buy a modest sized boat and use it to sail around the world going wherever I feel like.

Hmmm this is a good question.

I don't think my life would change that much really. I have never been too motivated by money since, while very very nice to have, its not the most important thing in the world. However, there are a few things:

#1 -- Lotus Esprit (either the new ones or a 90's model; wait I have like 60 million -- why not both)

#2 -- Pay off my student loans. Duhhh


#3 -- Start my own company. Maybe a game development company, maybe not. I think it would be a lot of fun to start some sort of programming firm since I think I understand how most programmers tick. I think I could set them up in an environment to succeed. Perhaps make that Pokemon MMO that would net a huge profit and also make sure its done right and not for a bunch of 7 year olds.

#4 -- Enjoy life. As much as I enjoy my job and working I'd still set aside around 2 months a year to go on vacation. I want to see every beach on this list: Discover the world's top 30 island beaches - TODAY: Travel - MSNBC.com




#5 -- Not change. I'd make sure to still be me. I find people with a bunch of money that flash it around to be complete and total cum moppers. I heard the guys in charge of Google still drive around Honda Accords and the like. Perhaps go into the parking lot of the place next to me and key every BMW in the lot. I would probably also donate money to worthy causes such as cancer research since this is personally effected my family greatly. I wouldn't throw money at Africa simply because thats shitting it down the toilet just to get some PR.

Why risk jail to save a few million when you have more money than you can reasonably spend in a lifetime (without going nuts at a Saudi prince level) left even after taxes?

Really, I think I would keep enough to retire comfortably, pay off all my family's debt and a nice retirement fund for each of them, then get rid of the rest, either by starting a company (that someone else will run) or donating to charity/starting a foundation.

I couldn't handle having that much cash sitting around and everyone I know wanting me to solve all of their problems by giving them money.

I would certainly party it up for a few months first though.
