You say this and link to a screenshot of openoffice?
Mmm... ?
I wish everyone would learn InDesign or Quark to accomplish the same shit easier, and just start working with editable PDFs instead of this word doc bullshit.
Not sure what the other options really are at this point. Open Office has goofy compatibility issues as well as poorer performance and zero reliable support. Corps deploying Office have all-in-one support and update plans spanning many years so they don't have to think about it.
The only other option I've seen are megacorps who just get packages from IBM - Lotus Notes / Portal+Sphere - or have custom solutions built.
I'm even seeing a few places migrate entirely to Google to replace Office.
I'm just glad I never really had to learn Office at the misplaced penetration it's been given in many organizations. It should not be used to make multimedia presentations, typeset documents or for any sort of desktop database. Ugh. Unfortunately the mindset is that its cheaper (both cash and qualitywise) to have some soccer mom middle manager "designing" in powerpoint than actually get something decent made that does a better job of communicating a message effectively and increasing productivity.
