Technically I could claim a third, but it wasn't really mine. Damned if three Phish shows, one climbing the mountains of upstate NY, on essentially three cylinders and finally throwing the rod and trashing it after almost making it back doesn't give you a sense of partial ownership though.

If anyone is actually thinking about a VW van ("bus" if you insist) DO NOT go with one of the widely available late '70s Type II's. (My experience is with a '77 and a '78.) Those early fuel injected years are worthless. Get a carbed one. Or better yet, do like that Vanagon I posted. Take the middle seat out and you have amazing room for whatever, and the still air cooled 80/81's were beasts. Other than the EGR vacuum hose that would pop off mid shift and stall me in the middle of the road forcing me to climb in back and pop the engine cover to stick it back on, and the fuel pump relay that would get dust and shit through the worn seal and require a nice banging with a screwdriver handle to make it actually start up....other than those things, those early Vanagons were the best VW's I ever dealt with. Hands down. I wish I had kept that orange breadbox.

I'm too lazy to go find pictures of my first two cars, a 93 red Sunbird V6 and a 97 Ford Probe GTS. Both great cars for the time. Sunbird was reliable as hell for the 3 years I drove it, other than an alternator. The Probe was a slick looking car and fun as hell to drive, but all of the sudden the 4th summer I had it I had to sink 4 grand in to it. Front end went, needed it's 100,000km service which alone was like 1200, throttle body went, exhaust rusted out, it was one thing after another. I believe it was about 7 years old at that point.

Currently driving the car pictured below, just got the entire front end repainted due to some rusting on the hood and smoking a guardrail in April. 2001 330xi w/102,000km, probably selling to a friend in the fall and replacing with a 2009 335xi, but I'm kind of backtracking on that now. Seems silly to get a new car when this one still looks and drives great. Plus I drive the shit out of it, don't much care where I park it, and so on. I don't want the new car jitters.

My first hoo ride, what a beater. I broke the axle doing doughnuts.

Then I rolled a fucking van like this for about 6 months until the engine just randomly died. This thing was so fucking lame.

Then I rolled this bad boy till I traded it in for the next one...

Civic. Great car, currently riding with a busted exhaust cause I'm broke as fuck

First car, 1989 Plymouth Acclaim. It had so many problems and was a money pit, but it was good on gas and had a turbo (???). I loved it yet hated it.

Next was my 1994 Honda Accord. It ran like a champ for about 6 years. I treated this car like absolute shit and I'm surprised it made it so long. I changed the oil in this car once when I first bought it but never did again, I am such an asshole

I had a 1983 Cutlass Supreme for awhile, it has no catalytic converters or mufflers, just two straight pipes. I only could keep it for so long because it would never pass inspection and the head gaskets blew. Mine was a bright baby blue.

Current car is a 2002 Nissan Altima 3.5SE. Beast of a car and my favorite I've owned. Have a feeling I'll keep this one awhile. It's pretty quick for a big car too.
