+5 Internets | 1st Motorcycle I'm afraid I don't have any images of my actual rides but these are bikes. This was my first ever motorcycle, 1976 unrestricted fizzy DX, I could never beat my mates Suzuki AP50 which always bothered me. ![]() Next up I bought a Yamaha RD125, loved this bike, put some Jim Lomas expansions + K&N's etc on it and it was brutal, would give an RD250/X7 a run from the lights for a short distance before getting owned. ![]() I was a Yamaha fan boy by now and my next bike was a lovely RD400 ![]() I also liked to work on my bikes and bought a cheap 1963 Yamaha YR5 350, it actually looked the same as the shot below before I did a rebuild from the ground up including a race tune by Stuart Mathews and was a blast to ride but handled like shit which added to the fun. ![]() |

+4 Internets | Holy fuck I want to steal each and everyone one of those. I have a huge hardon for vintage bikes. I have an '80 XS400; I'd love to pick up a 70s CB or XS.

| So here's a car thread hijack that hasn't been done yet! Bear with me here... OK, so I've made no secret I hate the car I have now, the Taurus POS. The good news (well, sorta good at least) is that it won't be a problem any more. Here's what happened... This guy hit me on the way to work yesterday morning. I stopped in plenty of time for the stopped traffic on I95...he didn't. This *used* to be a sable, and it used to look normal. I'm just gonna leave this here, lack of person incriminating data and all... He slammed into me at about 70. I was slowing down FAST but still going maybe 30ish...he went UNDER the ass end of my car and bounced the whole thing about two feet into the air, according to witnesses...my coffee cup went up off the console so fast and hard it broke the rear-view mirror. I got shoved into a 97 toyota, and THAT guy got shoved forward and tapped an 04 Highlander. Everone is OK, no ambulance needed. My Taurus is in the shop and the insurance guy is coming tomorrow to pronounce it totaled and cut me a check (90%) or tell them to fix it and they'll pay the damages (10% chance). I've got whiplash and a sprined shoulder. On fun painkillers and anti-inflammatories. Just a heads-up, don't ever get whiplash...it fucking HURTS...A LOT. As in, this is running neck and neck with "sprung ribs" for the 'most long-tern painful' injury list. Anoyhow, anyone have a recent vintage (last 10-12 years please) import small pickup with a 4-banger and a 5 speed for sale? Attached for fun, I'm surprised the Ford stood up to the crash as well as it did...the ass end looks pretty good, considering: The front end, where I got shoved into the tacoma, looks worse actually, and all that happened was, his license plate frame got bent up under the bumper....and it's a work truck, so it ain't a real big deal... Anyhow...pic 1, the asshole that hit me and fucking destroyed his car. Pic 2, the ass end of my taurus. Pic 3, the front of my car, where I hit the pickup. The Florida Highway Patrol is going after ONLY the guy that hit me, as the cause of everything. That guy's insurance company is going to be writing checks for a while...whe tied up I95 for *hours*! EDITED TO ADD:maybe we should start a thread for "cars you've wrecked"? Last edited by Radahr Manasponge; 11-03-2009 at 08:50 PM.. |

+2 Internets | First Car - Mazda 323 Got it for High School. I ended up selling it for 300$ after the passenger door got folded back when my friend randomly opened the door as I was pulling out of a campground parking spot and the door hooked on a wood beam. Would have lasted forever too, plus it was a stick. ![]() Second Car - Mazda Protege I was in my first year of college and commuting from there to work and home. Was comfortable and got good mileage and the automatic was nice for battling the traffic on the I-15. Ended up getting wrecked when an old woman plowed into me as I was turning out of my work parking lot. ![]() Third Car - Isuzu Amigo This car has treated me like an abusive husband but I can't stop loving it. The picture is stock but I've added a few off-road enhancements (crash bar, tow hook, tires, etc.) since I'm up in the mountains almost every chance I get. Seats four adults surprisingly comfortably and the tailgate has enough space for beer and fishing tackle which I all I need it for. ![]() The Amigo is paid in full so I'll basically own it forever. I'm getting ready to buy a more economical town/commuting car since I drive about 30-40 minutes to get to work. I'll probably break down and buy a Focus or something similar. I loooove sports cars and would enjoy convincing myself I have a good reason to own one but I'm probably too practical for it. |

| ... So I'm looking at the picture of the 1984 Firebird and I got to thinking; did most of the cars from the 1980's not age well or maybe they are just not appreciated as collectors items yet? For instance, when I was 18 years old I paid $2200 a 1968 Dodge Charger (383 car, not a Hemi or 440 R/T model) that ran and drove. It was 21 years old at the time and was considered a classic and desirable car at the time I bought it (now they go for $15000 up. guess I should have kept it) Now, looking around you can get a base model 3rd generation F-Body for next to nothing, and even a really clean IROC-Z can be had for 6 or 7 grand. It makes me wonder if most of the 80's musclecars are a wash (Grand Nationals excluded) or if the smart people are snatching up the pristine ones because they are really going to take off someday. |
