First of all, i find it insulting. It is not that i consider myself to be the gift God made to women, or anything like that, but i find that bullshit line " I want to break up with you, but i want us to remain friends" deeply insulting and disturbingly immoral. I often throw a nerd rage tantrum when i get that line. If she refuses to be with me from the start, and wants to be just friends, although hard to stomach, it is acceptable, for me.

Do not ever take advice from Dumar on relationships. I have defended him on his personal choices in other threads but whereas I believe in a persons freedom to date how they choose I do not necessarily agree with it being the best method to do so. This is how he treats his relationships (read the thread to see him go into more detail) if you are as detached from your women are or looking for women with as little substance as he is then mabye its good advice. But in 9.95 out of 10 of all cases his advice is nothing but fail. Ever.

Second don't go to therapy. That's the idiot response. Its like going straight to Gastric Bypass surgery after you gained 50 lbs. Its an overloaded response to a perfectly normal life encounter. Therapy is needed if and when you find yourself unable to perform your normal daily functions for an extended basis. If you find yourself suicidal or if it affects your emotional state for a period that would be classified longer then normal for you.

Also having only one partner is not the right or natural way. It is simply a choice and one that is less beneficial to our species as a whole. Though I admit I am as much a part of this problem currently....

The thing I never understood about breakups is how drastically the dynamics between the two people change. At one point you are the two most important people in each others lives, you love each other, can't imagine living without the other one, everything. And then a few days later, you never talk again. It's weird how hard it is to keep a person in your life who used to mean so much to you.

With my girl I'm emo-ing over, it wasn't a bad breakup, it was just a breakout out of necessity because I'm 1500 miles away and we don't see any point in the future where we'll be living in the same place. It's honestly the best thing we could have done. So I'm not mad at her at all, that's what makes it so much more rough. We still talk. And yeah that's like knives in my heart. The thing that hurts the most is I know we're going to gradually stop talking as much and slowly mean less to each other. Just breaks my heart cause I like her so much.

Anyway..
