Cologne vs. Body Spray

just looking to hear some opinions on what other dudes do to smell their freshest.

i've been hearing conflicting arguments on when it is or isn't necessary to wear cologne or body spray. personally i wear a modest amount of AXE when going out and doing something non-social such as errands, working, going to class or going out to eat with friends. i'll bust out some cologne though if i'm going somewhere a little dressier where i know i'll be running into some broads such as the bar, on a date or to a party. one of my friends doesn't think the AXE is necessary and thinks that its tacky.. i agree that it isn't necessary as i don't have BO or anything but i don't see anything wrong with smelling a little bit fresh. obviously if you bath yourself in the stuff its going to be repugnant so i try not to do that. also i have been complimented countless times by girls when wearing AXE*. also, i never wear any sort of scent to the gym and i would hope you would do the same.

anyway just looking for some opinions on the subject. be sure to include what your favorite brands and scents of body spray and cologne are. also would like to hear a few female** perspectives on the subject as well.

*- the only AXE scents i have any interest in are voodoo and to a lesser extent tsunami... the rest are pure shit. voodoo is no longer manufactured and can only be found by purchasing it online. not too long ago i bought a dozen off some website for about $50... well worth it. tsunami is becoming increasingly hard to find also, i suspect that it may be out of production now too.

** - anyone but Etoille. i think i can speak for all of us when i say we'd rather not hear how turned on you get when a dude smells like barbeque sauce.

I wear cologne personally (Polo Black and Romance by Ralph Lauren), but I also have some AXE laying around the apartment if I ever want to wear that.

I wear AXE when im down with a ghetto shower.. just need to smell good before i go somewhere. If im going on a date, or to a special occassion, wedding, funeral, school event, I have many colognes I choose from.

I wear Usher, Aqua Di Gio, Ralph Lauren Polo Blue, Hollister Jake, Curve (original), and Calvin Klien CKIN2U...and I always get compliments on how nice I smell, so I must be doing something right.

I mostly just keep an emergency bottle of axe around if I don't have time for a shower or smell like cigs/dope. When it's "respectable" time, you gotta go with cologne.

I primarily wear Curve and Black. My favorite of all time was Elements (Hugo Boss did it I think) but I am not sure they even make that anymore. Body spray is what the homeless use to smell decent before begging for food.

I am pretty sure Armani Mania has helped me seal the deal several times. I use Axe deoderant, but i think the body spray is a little tacky.

But seriously, if there's one thing science has told us about what women like when it comes to smell: it's that women respond positively to testosterone laden sweat. If it's taught us two things it's that women don't actually like the smell of cologne. I can't find the damn study for that one now...but I swear it's out there.

edit: Of course that's painting with a very broad brush, but in general that's what women like according to SCIENCE!
