if i could i would prevent all pregnancies without the proper authorization. not because of welfare, though. we don't have the right technology for this yet, but i believe it will come by next century. i'm fairly certain it will happen, actually. there's gonna be a lot of resistance at first, but it will eventually go through. and by that i mean pregnancies being prevented without first obtaining a license to do so.

There are a ton of activities we give up our 'right' to in the greater interest of society. You don't see many people bitching because they had their 'right' to drive a car below the proper age or without the proper training 'stolen' by the government. Yet somehow we think people should be invariably trusted with the creation and developement of a human life? Isn't there a little inconsistancy there?

If somebody doesn't know how to drive, they'd better stay the hell off the road so they don't risk peoples lives. And if people are young, dumb, trashy and all burdens on society, then they sure as hell shouldn't be allowed to give birth to kids they'll invariably fail to raise or educate properly.

If we can't trust the government to regulate when we give birth, then who do we trust? Some 15 year old drunk skank who's ambition on life is to be another baby bonus chasing welfare living waste of atmosphere like her crackwhore mother and jailbird father?

So explain from your point of view. Why would you trust a 15 year old with bringing up a child and properly raising and educating it, but not trust them with a car?

And from your perspective, whats wrong with the idea of (theoretically), preventing people from giving birth until they are of appropriate age and have been deemed competant enough to give a child a decent life. We remove children from messed up and abusive families, why not just prevent those families from having children in the first place?

The crux of any discussion concerning rights is property: who owns the property in question? The government happens to own the roads in society, and so it can set regulations for them. The government does NOT own the bodies of its citizens. Each individual human being owns his own body, and so he/she is the only person who should be able to govern what is done with that body.

We can't trust either, but I'd sure as shit rather deal with scattered, dispersed fuck-ups by individuals than by (the potential of) a society-wide complete fuck-up by the government. Every time you give the federal government power -- any power -- you're giving it the power to impose upon the entirety of society. Redneck Susie's fuck-ups affect her, her child, and her family -- little else. Congress' fuck-ups affect all 300 million of us.
