I could never do the one night stand thing for fear of STD's alone. The older you get, the more likely it is that someone has something, and if someone is willing to do a one night stand, you can be pretty sure its not their first. Same reason I would never pay for sex.

You never know whats swimming around in the punch bowl your dipping your ladle into.
Gross. Honestly. Ick ick ick.

It has no effect on men. So you are cool.

Holy fuck, that is a huge cougar. Fuck bears, cougars are the ones that scare the shit out of me. You'll just be going for a nice hike in the mountains, then bam your throat's ripped out and you never saw it coming.

Back when I lived in the Hollywood Hills (where those pics from the "Post pics of your house!" thread were taken), we used to see the occasional cougar prowling around in the hills and valleys. It's kind of amazing how nature still manages to thrive in the heart of the one of the world's biggest cities. Of course, it wasn't so majestic and awe-inspiring when you'd turn on the local news and hear about how a cougar mauled 15 hikers to death at 11am on a Sunday. But still, cougars! Raarrr!

Also, this topic kind of reminds me about a conversation I had with a tour guide in Belize back during spring break in college, sophomore year.

Guide: So, umm, you'll want to watch out for jaguars when we enter this rainforesty area.

Me: How will we know to look out for them?

Guide: You won't. They go straight for the brain in one bite. You'll probably feel about 2 or 3 seconds of it, and I'm sure it will suck.

But if left to my own devices, I wouldn't touch LA municipal tap water with a biohazard suit and a NASA-caliber filtration device. Filtered water is fine, too, btw. But I'd say that 99% of my daily water intake comes from bottles.
Before i went in a different direction with my life I was a PHCC certified master journeyman plumber, specializing in civic pump skids and water purification sites for city of los angeles. I promise you that your tap water is beter for you than any brand of bottled water.

There are many types of filtration systems used by different bottling companies. None of them are as solid as the city's system.

Without going into a long technical diatribe, there is even one type of commonly used filtration system that hasnt been outlawed yet for bottling water, this particular process can actually help rott your teeth over time. Reverse osmosis, creates agressive water that leaches minerals out of your teath and tissue. Im not saying this happens in a few bottles though, you would have to stick with that type of bottled water for years and years and years for RO water to have a serious effect.

Seriously the only city systems i would doubt the quality of only exist in the far north-eastern US(here only because of aging systems and materials that have been outlawed) and the southern most part like florida and the south eastern most US.

California has the most advanced potable water delivery/filtration system in the world. Yet you people still insist on this stupid bottled water craze.

I swear man, every now and then someone starts telling a story that just freaks me the fuck out.

I don't want to hear about the time you found a clump of yeasty discharge while going down on a woman. Please stop, you are hurting the ability for my penis to function.

Hmmm. That is a pretty compelling argument, actually. :\ But what about all the antibiotics and hormones and traces of antidepressants that have been found in civic tapwater recently? Granted, that was in NYC. But it doesn't seem farfetched to think that could be happening here in LA -- a city probably even more full of antibiotics, hormones, antidepressants, etc. I'll take your word for it if you say that stuff doesn't really affect LA tap water. Because truth be told, I'd love to stop having to buy expensive and plasticky bottles all the time. I'm just very concerned about traces of drugs in my tap water. More concerned about that kind of stuff than I am with bacteria, actually.
