I feel it is female insecurities screaming through because why the hell else would you use another picture of a girl you find universally attractive? Becuase you don't think you're attractive enough? I think maybe confidence and insecurities could merge together on this factor.

As for the whole older male thing, as a female personally i wouldn't mind someone maybe a few years older, but nothing extreme. It might be true that females search for that whole father figure but it's more heard of when you talk about women and 'toy boys' (younger man).

If a female is dating someone say 30 years older than themselves then yes, it's down to money and nothing else and thats my view.

I'd have to say a majority of the women who partied through the 80's really do look that way. It's bad to say, since I have a few older cousins and such that did.. but the 80's confusing times for us all. Why else would Freddy Mercury have died?

Overall, the older "taboo" scene kind of comes with the past too. You look at alot of figure heads, kings, queens, maids, and other house hold appliances. Alot is based around wealth, status, and or power. But then you have Mrs. Robinson..

As soon as you hit late 20's your age range goes up a lot. I noticed this on my case after watching House for a while and seeing Cuddy. I noticed the age signs and she looked early 40's, but after seeing the wrinkles and the marks under her eyes, she still looked hot.

I don't think it does at all. And actually, on one of my ski trips last year I had a group of singles from that website on my bus. There was actually an entire bus full of them, 55 singles all looking to hookup, but thankfully that was another guide's bus. I had the 8 that were left over. Not a single one of them was attractive, and I witnessed at least two BJ's in progress on my bus. I can't imagine what went on with the bus that was full of them. Jesus.

What the fuck are you talking about? Men rarely date older women, and women very often date older men. Statistics bear this out. The marrying age for men is almost always 5 years high on average than women.

I dunno, I've met a couple chicks through Lavalife, and there wasn't any huge mental defects with them. Things didn't work out for whatever reason, but they weren't insane.

For whatever reason, some girls have a hard time meeting guys. Maybe they're new to town and don't have friends to introduce them to others. Maybe they work in a job where there are virtually zero available men, like nurses for example. Maybe they really don't like clubbing, or have had nothing but bad experiences (hi, if you let dudes take you home the first night, it's not going to be a lasting relationship). There's plenty of reasons that a normal, cool chick would be on a dating site.

But I would agree that a larger proportion of online dating girls would be crazy than the general population.

And yes, I totally agree that chicks posting fake pictures are fucking pathetic. I haven't ran into any yet, because for the most part it's pretty obvious. I think there's at least 20 Hillary Duffs in Edmonton on Lavalife. It also pisses me off when you see a profile with a chick claming to be mid 20's, and it's blatantly obvious they're 40. a) Lots of people only drink bottled water. I know I do. I mean, I'll be a good sport at a friend's house if they tend to drink tap water; I'm not going to inconvenience someone if they don't want to open their bottled water. But if left to my own devices, I wouldn't touch LA municipal tap water with a biohazard suit and a NASA-caliber filtration device. Filtered water is fine, too, btw. But I'd say that 99% of my daily water intake comes from bottles.

b) Why would you keep emergency supplies in the fridge? :\ You're supposed to store earthquake supplies somewhere safe, not accessible by visitors who might mistake the items for daily food and water, and not prone to destruction/collapse/etc. in the event of a major quake. If you leave a bunch of water bottles in your fridge, I'd say it would be the very odd person indeed who'd think to ask you if they were your earthquake emergency supplies before reaching for one.

Also: you guys really find some 40+-year-old woman, botoxed and lipo'd to all hell, tanned to a crisp, bleached, waxed, and implanted attractive? Couldn't you just find a twentysomething who looks just as good, but naturally? If you think you'll have more in common with a 49-year-old she-tiger than with a nice, cute 25-year-old, you're mistaken. Also, you've got to consider that you might not be what she's looking for, either. I mean, yeah, we've all seen the older rich guys with the dumb 20-year-old knockouts. It's the same thing here, more or less. These women are no doubt looking for ripped, blond, smooth, dumb, adorable surfers who like to rock-climb and teach yoga on the side, while not busy playing guitar or working out.
