Imperial War Hounds if I recall correctly...they're from 40k Epic, but those ones are too scale with 40K, or whatever.

They're Warlord Titans.

Warlords are the work horses of the Titan legion. They're the heavily armed, armored front line Titans. Warhounds are the "smallest" (as small as a Titan can get anyway) Titan in imperial service. They're scouts, fast, agile, but still big enough to step on a tank. Its to bad they don't make Imperator Titan models, heh. Imperator titans are twice as big as a warlord. It'd be a diorama in itself.

There's 2 kinds of 40k players.
Those that don't play orks.
Those that win.

Was thinking of playing 40k, was leaning towards the orks.

They are cost prohibitive already. The latest Reaver Titan sells for 550 pounds sterling. That is a lot of coin for one model, and most people couldn't do the thing justice on the paint job. An Imperator version would stand almost two feet tall!

You can see one in the fourth row of pictures down here: GW Online : Community : Games Day : Games Day 2007 Review

Forgeworld makes a lot of awesome models, I wish I the time and money to buy a lot of their stuff. I love the futuristic jets/bombers they make as well.
Forge World TITANS

also a decent comparison shot of a warhound and a marine:

I was under the impression that Orks suffered in terms of balance against other armies. Orks are very much a paper army. Their squads can get chewed up badly by incoming fire since they don't really have any armor. Also their vehicles are really glorified technicals so even a bolter round can cause the thing to explode. The more durable armies seem to be far more popular with players, which is why most armies you see are marine/chaos/necron.

I'm thinking about getting a new ork army too though, I've always been an ork player at heart. The new boxed set is coming with a ton of ork minatures (1 warlord, 20 boyz, 3 deth kopters). That and the new Trukk models are really excellent.

Yep it was ridiculous and unneeded. First off Nagash was a bad ass and basically getting rid of him was a joke. My friend played Undead and it was a blast to play against. The stories were great in the old books too.The count family was awesome though.

2nd edition Orks I think anyone will tell you (old schoolers here) that they were hands down the most fun army to play against or with. They had crazy grok warp cannons that could shoot and take down tanks or misfire and blow up. Alot of loony crazy stuff with the whole "Waaaaaagh" special rules. Anyways I play Orks and I can tell you that the best game I ever had was Orks vs Space Wolves. It literally came down to a slugfest in the middle with my Ork Warlord taking on my buddies Wolf Lord. Wolflord had 1 wound left lived and my Warlord did too. It came down to some peon Orkboy that rolled double 6's and dropped him. We laughed so hard and made that Ork in particular my new warlord (i modded him out).

Orks are fun. Don't play to win, play to go crazy. Way to many rules lawyers and guys forget it is a game (especially at gamesday jesus h christ).

Play Orks, everyone will want to play you. (Same with Fantasy Orcs and Gobbos) Sure they may win 50% of the time but if you get lucky with Waaaaagh...

I suggest getting Killer Kans, they are nice to have because they are a unit. Also Burna boyz man its all about some burna boyz

Anyone have the new Warhammer 40k rule book yet? I know there were rumors about a change to some weapon types. Note: I don't actually play the game, I just like models and I buy the books as references and as a side hobby, and i needed an excuse to add this:

Yeah my old 2nd edition ork army was a 'fun' army. I had 3 battlewagons (gorkamorka trukks), squads of warbikes, wartraks, warbuggies, etc. The whole thing was mounted. It was wicked. Then during the first shooting phase the whole army would get so horribly shot up I'd spend the rest of the game with nothing left.

From reading Dakkadakka about the new rules, the ork players are pissed because of the changes. The new LoS rules are a godsend to shooty armies, since its 'true' LoS. If you can see 1 mm of your model through a keyhole, BAM, you have LoS. So basically the new super cool Ork Wartrukk, which is also super big now, is toast. There's no way to hide your large ramshackle opentopped AV10 transport.

Also apprently you can't consolidate after H-t-H into another H-t-H. So now if your squad wins, it sits around with its dick hanging out. So if you 'win' your H-t-H at the wrong time, have fun as the opponent's entire army turns around and rapid fire's your elite troops to death.

Thats my understanding of it anyway. I really haven't 'played' since 3rd edition.

Yes shooty armies are dominate and it's pretty lame. (I played Necrons, IG IW) but it's pitiful. I thought they were changing some of the rules in 5th to let armies like Blood Angels (who still own), World Eaters, Orks, and Tryanids kick ass. So I got to wait and see in 5th.

Nothing more scary than playing Tyranids especially a well painted army. Alot of Tryanid guys have quit playing. Sad really since they are one of those scary "fun" armies to play. Ork Vs anything is the most fun to watch.

IG vs Tryanids is the most scary.

Heh. My friend has played IG since 2nd. I have played Tyrandis since 2nd. We've had some battles over the years, but nearly every game is a route, for one side or the other. Either he will decimate my swarm before they hit, or the tyranids get there and carnage is unleashed.

That's the only two armies I have played where the outcome seems almost wholly determined by the terrain. Of course, there are some objective missions where tyranids just have a really tough time regardless of how favorable the terrain is.

Now when that same friend plays Witch Hunters against my Tyranids...ughhh. That's an uphill fight for me from the get go.

edit: My favorite army is my Bad Moon ork clan. You think Ork's are fun regularly? Play a shooty Ork with no melee. Untold amounts of firepower seemingly being directed at nothing in particular.
