That is not my furniture that's the previous owner. Those couches are horrible. Our TV is larger, and won't be mounted up there

I know you and people like you think it's impossible to rise up from nothing via being GOOD AT SOMETHING, since you suck at what you do so you think everyone who makes it does it via rich parents or connections. Guess what? You just suck, sorry.

(Household income in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for Details on exactly how well off you are)
I'm "well off" because I fucking work hard, I identified what I'm good at and I pursued it, while not wasting money on ridiculous shit like going out to eat, alcohol, drugs, senseless luxuries, and whatever else you people spend your money on. I buy 2-3 year old used cars priced well below market, keep them for a couple years and sell them losing only a few thousand dollars. I paid my house off in less than 3 years because I don't like giving money to banks. I don't take expensive vacations, I find deals and take off on a whim because they needed to fill seats and it's dirt cheap. Living inexpensively and yet lavishly is easy, you just have to use your brain.

You think you're fucking typical? Reality check time. It must be nice to sit on your throne-on-high and lord over us common folk, but in all reality, people are just more poor than they used to be.
People are not more poor than they used to be, they're just as stupid as they've always been at managing, saving, and making money.

I measure my life and my self worth by my ability to achieve what I want to achieve, my control over my destiny and my accomplishments, in all walks of life. I have a good family life, I'm embarking on a second career because my first one was too easy and not challenging anymore, and I've got the financial freedom to just say fuck it and do what I want. I'm glad people work hard for the stuff they have, but maybe they should invest a little planning in their careers and get ahead later by sacrificing now rather than wanting everything now. Just a thought.

I don't like buying anything relatively recent, be it 5 years or 10 years, for similar reasons. You never know what corrners the previous owners cut. If you're in the market for a brand-new house, you might as well build it yourself. Of course, in certain markets (yay, LA!) doing so is ridiculously expensive and requires a lot of patience for negotiating through bureaucratic red tape.

You're awfully modest too Cad.

Oh, and Hateyou, I'm diggin that house too. Hopefully when I start looking sometime in the near future, I can find a good deal down here in GA. I know the housing market for buyers here is supposed to be good, at least that's what I hear.

Good luck getting in the new place, that house looks great for that price.

Seriously. $150,000 is, like, a down payment on a small condo in a sketchy neighborhood in LA. I'm constantly jealous of property prices in other parts of the country. In my neck of the woods, if you're a homeowner before you're 30, you're a huge success.

Yeah, I'm almost 28 and people have been giving me shit for renting for years now. People here buy houses at 21, 22 years old, it's nuts.

As for that house being 10 years old, they took damn good care of it, and added tons of shit within the last year. The roof is the 3 dimensional shingles, hardwood floors where there isn't brand new tile and berber carpet. Granite bathroom counter tops with inset sinks, jacuzzi tub, nice windows. Brand new garage opener, the pool is one of those no maintenance ones. Pretty crazy for 150k. If it doesn't end up going through I'm gona cry. It should though.

Pictures of my place. They've been posted here before. These were taken before I moved in, but the place looks almost identical still. Only changes really are that I have a 106" screen where the 52" TV is, and my desk under the stairs is different. The stairs lead up to a small little room about 10x12 with a couple couches with backs that fold down. No one's ever slept on them I don't think, however they've seen their fair use of people getting it on. The room then leads out to a 16x16 patio on the roof with a bbq, patio furniture etc. Great for suntanning in the summer. I was out there most of the day yesterday with some friends, got a little too much sun but such a great way to spend the afternoon.

The building is from 1912, originally as a warehouse/arcade. I don't know the exact history of it over the years, but it was converted to condos in 2002. Thankfully my bro jumped on it, and when he decided to get a house in 2005 I pounced on it. Most people who see it in person remark "this is the coolest place I've ever seen." For Edmonton, anyway, it's a pretty unique place. The building has 40 units, but only the top floor has the exposed beams and higher ceiling, the other floors have a drywall ceiling at about 9'6", whereas mine is as high as 12' on the perimeter. Only 4 places have rooftop patios, as well. The place is about 1500 square feet not including the loft and patio, and would probably go for around 500-600k right now (market has gone a little soft). The location is phenomenal, on a street downtown that's gone from a hang out for drunks and druggies 5 years ago to one of the few areas in the city with a nice mix of shops, restaurants, artist studios, bars/clubs, and offices. During a typical work day, my patio would be easily seen by 20,000 office workers within a couple block radius. I've yet to tag anyone up there, voyeurism isn't really my thing, but a couple girls have been interested.

Girls get pregnant just by walking into Eomer's house.

Seriously, that place is very, very nice. Here I was thinking I was pimp-shit for finally painting the inside of my house. I think my property value just went down by viewing those photos .

Yeah, no shit! I pride myself that my place in brooklyn is pimp enough that I've laid every girl I've brought over, but as you said, girls probably line up outside his place to get nailed there
