Thanks, the bookshelf is from IKEA.
IKEA | Bookcases | BILLY system | BILLY/ BYOM | Bookcase with glass doors

I'd been wanting a good bookcase forever, but I never got around to it until last year.

Before I do that, let me say this. When I told my girlfriend I was going to have a female roommate, she was naturally a little worried/upset. When she saw her, she was no longer the least bit worried.

That said, do you still want to see a picture of her?

Actually, later edit. We have this 3rd roommate where we're living now, a guy that said "If Salshun moves into the new house, then I won't be." Huge asshole, and she told him "guess you aren't coming with us then.". She also has never been cheap about sharing her alcohol or pills, so regardless of looks, she's an awesome chick.

Moved into my new house at the end of Feb. This pic is a generic representation of the style of home I purchased. Big enough for a small family and sits on a 10,000 square foot lot.

My backyard looks like Mars, though.

Nice. I really dig those big bay windows in the front.

Isn't that style called a "Ranch Home"?

I can say it was rather nice just walking in and taking over payments, and him leaving all toys (the gym equipment, pool table, arcade machines, etc was all his, just has no room for it at the new place). I'm going to have to spend a weekend with him learning all the little stuff about the house, like how to clean the jacuzzi, working the grill, every sink has a water filter that i need to learn to clean/replace, changing the games on the mame machine, etc. I really want to do some carpentry, thinking about building a wet bar in the game room, or maybe even a work bench in the garage first, in order to have a good setup to make other stuff.

Also man you got Issac, King, Card, Tolkien, Asimov, Koontz, Bradbury...one hell of a collection.

You also have my favorite book of all time, Brave New World. If you want to catch a flick that if you're a nice guy can call an homage and if you're a cynic you WILL call a fat rip off, check out this flick:

IMDB Link:

Equilibrium (2002)

Just read this synopsis and tell me it doesn't scream Huxley:

In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: books, art and music are strictly forbidden and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Cleric John Preston (Bale) is a top ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist the rules. Whe he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion, Preston, who has been trained to enforce the strict laws of the new regime, suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it. I will say, however, that Christian Bale is fantastic in it.

We were exceptionally lucky with our home. Was the 2nd to last home on "Track B" that had not sold yet; two seperate buyers' financing fell through. The house was supposed to sell for $285,000, but we picked it up for $220,000. We got locked in at 5.0% for 30 years. Nehemiah Gift Fund covered our closing and FHA covered our down. We were paying ~ $1200/mo for our apartment previously. With our mortgage, insurance, and taxes included, our monthly payment is now $1,570.

Needless to say, were are happy campers. All "gas appliance" home, so our utilities thus far have been dirt cheap compared to our apartment. I honestly don't have any complaints. Added expenses are obviously garbage, water, sewage, home security, pest control, gardener, etc, but we've been doing just fine (home came in with built-in alarm that we switched over to ADT).

Wish I would have purchased this nice 'lil tax write-off years ago ; I got raped this year in taxes. Go-go making $129,000 and having only your student loan interest and IRA to write off . I could have included "work related purchases," but it wouldn't have made much difference.

WTB tax shelters, PST. Guess I'll have to get married and have the good 'ole Mrs. Uterus pop out 13 kids by December.

Odd tangent, I think I'm the only person left out of my group of friends who hasn't gotten married yet or had kids. I must be a Morlock.

Truth be told the owner gave me the option of taking over the mortgage or renting and I chose the latter for now with the option to change my mind later. Until I see what the Vegas housing market is going to do I can't get into a $300,000 currently appraising for $650,000
