| i live in a 100 year old farmhouse (seriously built in 1908) on the outskirts of greensboro NC. its all about location to me tho, my 2 neighbors are old ladies one about 100yards away and the other over 300 yards. and in 20 minutes i'm in the middle of greensboro. its like the middle of nowhere right outside of somewhere.

| Big "days" almost here, Thursday - Saturday are my 3 days to move in. Times like these I appreciate that my best friend is a 250lb Mexican guy that can be paid in beer. Got my first day planned out, so stoked: Wake up, call my girl and some buddies over, work out, sit in Jacuzzi, shower in the black marble tub with my girl, play some pool/arcade machine, then at night BBQ while drinking and more jacuzzi. I'm also very excited because this is the first place I've ever lived where I would want, and am looking forward to, holding family events there, like Christmas and Thanksgiving. |

+31 Internets | So I bought a 102 year old house and have been doing some "modernizing" Apparently the old lady that lived here hadn't really updated anything in thirty years. I think my wallpaper trumps anything seen already in this thread:

+31 Internets | Before shots with lady's furniture and demolition shots. There were three layers of painted over wallpaper on plaster walls, and the ceiling was papered too.

| Fuck, I'm in. Old tenants, since they were my roomy's brother and wife, left the place like the damned Anasazi, been cleaning more than moving. Go to hook up cable in my room....hey, no coax drop, roomy calls brother, I get told to look at the side of the house. Sure as shit, coax running up the wall, taped off right below my window, drill 1" hole through the wall, coax wants to keep bending and not go through, finally do, and the end popped off, my coax tools are at work. So, using a dull box-cutter and a pair of 20 year old, rusted vice grips, I managed to get it back on. |

Visited there a few years ago, my gfs family lives in Leverkeusen and we took her uncles car on a tour of Bavaria. Anyways, wasn't the story that he was some crazy young prince who was spending all the Bavarians tax revenues on Neuschwanstein and they soon after found him magically drowned in a lake but said it was suicide? My memory is hazy, but if I remember right that's what the tour guide said. I know when he died the castles construction was halted, it's only partly finished on the inside if you go in there. Ludwig also had a special room in the castle just for Wagner because he was obsessed with him. Anyways, this is a better pic of why they said it influenced the Disney castle. From that angle it looks a lot closer to the actual castle. http://www.math.cinvestav.mx/~xico/neuschwanstein1.gif

| This may be a little off-topic and a stretch, but here it goes. I'm visiting Virginia Beach(Pembroke area) next weekend to probably accept a job offer and look around for apartments. Does anyone here have any first hand experience with the area (I'm looking for something pretty nice)? |

| Dethfang the window & door frame wood you have is bad fucking ass. Looks like you could point at each piece and have a fucking story about when some relative cut that shit out of a tree behind the house. |

You might want to setup a meeting with someone and weigh your options. I also have little sympathy for those people that got taken in by those "introductory deal" offers. If you can't afford what the cost will rise to in a year now, don't assume you'll be ok then. Last edited by Salshun : 06-03-2008 at 06:46 PM. | |
