Rock Band Done Right

1080p projector: $3,000
PS3: $600
Rock Band: $200
Playing on the side of Harmonix's office building in Central Square with the stereo blasting loud enough for people on the street to hear it for a block or so: Priceless.

Couldn't get any pics of everybody gathering since I was busy during those times.

There's never any shortage of people on the street out there at any hour; the street in the pic is a side street. The pictures were taken right after I got it set up and before I cranked the stereo, so nobody had really noticed at that point.

What i want are photos that would be straight out of an 80's high school coming of age movie.
Cranky bald old dean covering his ears, irate elderly ladies, police holding back crowds of hot girls in running shorts with permed hair, and your father looking on with pride, and giving you a nod in approval.

Reckon you can manage it?

I was in a club/bar where they had a setup similar to this projecting onto the patio wall. It was fucking insanely awesome.

Where do you have the stuff setup? Is that your apartment across the street, thus using your window or did you have to setup that stuff outside?

Our office space is across the street. The projector is projecting through the windows in the conference room, which is also where the stereo is located. There's a 120 inch screen in the conference room that I usually use, but last night I thought the building looked fun.

Very cool.

Maybe this is a bit of a derail, but I'm interested to know if anyone else runs rock band through a PJ onto a large screen. Rock band is amazing with a huge screen and dolby digital.

I'm kind of fanatical about my home theater setup - not way off the deep end like some of the guys on avsforum, but I have rockband set up on a 106" screen, 720P PJ, and a fairly nice sound system. Needless to say - Rock Band is a blast to play when we have family/friends over.

The only draw back used to be a video delay due to a non crt display and a long HDMI run - but I've got in working perfectly now with a new hdmi cable.

I'll try to snap some pictures to show my setup.

We took the pictures on a Tuesday at 3am. Fri-Sat is INSANE outside with the amount of people.

We have RB for the 360 too, I just prefer the PS3. No real reason. I just like that system more if I'm not using XBL. Maybe it's all in my head but it seems like stuff looks better on the projector and runs faster on the PS3.
