| YouTube stores all videos at the full quality they were uploaded at. Normally it compresses them to the standard YouTube size when you stream them but this new option allows you to view the original version. If the original was shit quality though then you wont see any improvement obviously, this is why it only seems to work on some videos. |

| Don't really notice a difference using said extension on most videos... except there is quite a big difference in quality with movie trailers.

| As others have said, it's only available on some videos. It's difficult to tell what their selection process is. Perhaps some combination of original video quality, date uploaded (recent ones seem to get preference), and length. |
