A man hoisted up the goat and nonchalantly threw it over a wall into a pit full of hungry lions. The poor goat tried to run for its life, but it didn't stand a chance. The lions quickly surrounded it and started tearing at its flesh.

"Oohs" and "aahs" filled the air as the children watched the goat being ripped limb from limb. Some started to clap silently with a look of wonder in their eyes.

The scenes witnessed at Badaltearing Safari Park in China are rapidly becoming a normal day out for many Chinese families.

Hmmm, interesting. Nothing wrong with the lions eating the animals, but the joy people get from that chicken fishing is kind of disturbing.

Ask yourself honestly, if you would go to the local zoo if they actually tossed goats over to the lions.

I answer, yes I would go to see that shit.

I haven't been to the zoo since 1997 (only for an outdoor ice skating rink during Christmas)

Cue armchair psychologists denouncing you all as sociopaths for taking joy in the misery of other living things.

I would like to see them throw other kinds of animals over the edge as well. Maybe even Monty Python style... catapult a cow into the lion pit? I would pay to see that!

The awe isn't about the misery of the goat. That is actually being ignored in favor of the power of the lions.

Very very few people, even those that inflict it regularly, take pleasure from other's misery. It is more common for such misery to be ignored and pleasure taken from the actions that cause the misery.
