Those guys remind me of me... when I was like 5. I would make up nice stories and my friend would testify to their truths even though he hadn't heard it before. The one up is that they deliberately scare the shit out of each other in dark houses. Grow up.

I agree. I'm not a believer or disbeliever in most of these things, as I've 'heard' something unexplainable (with 3 other family members even). Short story:

When I was younger (oh, I must've been about 8-10 or so) I went for a walk in the woods of Missouri with my father and two sisters. We lived in the middle of nowhere.

Well, we came upon a small wooded area and walked in to look around. Inside was what appeared to be an old dried up pond. Inside the pond were 3 burnt circles on the ground. Odd for the middle of nowhere, we thought they were 3 firepits at first. We walked up to and in them (looking around) and had the weirdest experience.

When you entered a burnt area, you could hear things that weren't a part of 'middle of nowhere'. In one circle we heard what sounded almost like a motorcycle race. In another it sounded like a busy city street (I had lived in the city before and knew the sound). I don't remember what the sound of the 3rd ring was.

I don't know what those rings were and we never figured out but it was a cool experience none the less. It gives us something to talk about every now and again.

I'm a complete believer. Both my grandparents died in the house I live in which definitely plays a part in it. I notice stuff like lights, doors, chairs being moved. A lot of it to me is feeling and instinct. I quickly turn around for absolutely no reason and notice shit that looks like it's moving. It gives me chills and goosebumps just thinking about it.

I remember the lighthouse episode of ghost hunters. I don't know whether or not all their siht is staged or not, but it's pretty cool if it's not.

Nothing like reassuring yourself about your psychotic paranoia. Don't you think "spirits" would have better things to do than play "move something without the human noticing"?

I believe in spirits, ghosts, what have you. Not gonna argue really over what I believe in, because I can see how some will believe and others won't. It's like most things where it cannot be definitively proven without a doubt but at the same time there is no way to complete disprove it.

I've tried a Ouija board before at an old apartment I had some really weird experiences in. I'm really skeptical and I try to use reason with what I experienced, but I really can't explain it unless I was somehow drugged numerous times.

Nothing came out of playing with the Ouija board other than me feeling like a retard for trying.

I've found the Ghost Hunters show to be interesting, as they claim to always search for a reasonable and scientific answer. They just don't scream and freak out when they see what could be a 'ghost' and go for max thrill effect -- usually they're calm and will later try to recreate what they saw or heard to dismiss the footage as paranormal.

They've come across a few things that are flat out unexplainable. Though it is possible it's all a Hollywood hoax and some smart guy figured if they made it look like a team of investigators go to sites to disprove ghosts or hauntings people would believe what they see is real...

Regardless, I believe in the possibility of ghosts, spirits etc, but I feel they may not be your dead relatives, perhaps something we don't quite understand yet, maybe some scifi crap from another dimension.

My brother and I have been working over the past several years restoring homes for my dad in San Antonio that he wants to rent out. Two of these homes were side by side. One was a duplex and the other a large 2 1/2 story(the attic was used as servants quarters) homes. How we came across the houses was through some auction in which the city picked up the homes because the owner, an old lady, died 20 years ago and the family never claimed the home or anything. From what my dad told me is that the lady died, went 6 months dead in her home then the police found her when some druggies came in and used the home with her body in it as a crack house lol.

On the second story of the larger home there was alot of weird walls put up because they tried to section off the home so several familes could rent it out, according to my dad. As we were working my brother and I noticed there were alot of spaces on the second story that weren't right. There would be walls that blocked off large parts of the second and first story that we could not account for. There were no blue prints so we did not know what was where.

A week into working we had some unusual things happen. We noticed first of all that several if you locked all the doors in a certain way, you could actually lock a person in the center of the second story area with a 1/2 bath and no windows at all, they used all hard wood doors too for this area which was kinda strange. Secondly, on the first floor we encountered our first hidden area, a fireplace which was full of animal bones, looked like dogs bones to me. We both thought it was just weird and kept on working.

Also at this time I need to say this house was about 80 years old and had been expanded on twice from what we can tell. Alright, during the next month we worked on the roof to fix the leaks. While working on the roof there were several holes in the attic that went down where the rain had seeped through and rotted some wood. As we were fucking around one day my brother dropped a hammer and it went down into the second story through the attic floor. We heard it hit bottom on the second story but we couldnt find it anywhere there. With a flashlight we looked down the hole and saw the hammer in a room that was not accounted for, this room had a fireplace also in it and a desk.

After seeing this we went to my dad and asked if we could completely renovate the second story. He told us not to fuck with the walls and to do our job because every time it rained there was nasty dmg done and this year had been very rainy in San Antonio. He did say that once we finished we could go check out the areas on the second floor.

Whenever we got some free time my brother and I did some measuring on the house to see how much was really not accounted for. On the back right side of the house there was several rooms that were completely walled off and on the bottom floor there was some space unaccounted for. We also sectioned off where the hammer had fallen to and that the fireplace was on the same smoke stack system as the hidden animal bones fireplace.

At this point we were getting really fucking curious, so we "accidently" rammed the ladder through the wall into the hammers room. When we got in I swear I lost my breath. There was a desk in the room and in the fireplace it was filled with burnt paper. The paper was almost all burnt but we recovered several small pieces. Part of it looked like tax records however several pieces looked like Bible scripture and it was. As we looked harder there were alot of burnt Bible pages in there. The pile was stacked up almost out of the fire place and as we digged through it we noticed almost everything in the pile was burnt Bibles.

After this we immediately called my dad and had him come down to the house. He thought we were playing a prank on him but when he saw the room he just stood there in almost shock. He told us that tomorrow(it was getting dark and there was no electricty yet) we are going to open up the rest of the unaccounted areas with his "help".

I barely slept that night at all. My brother and I were living in the duplex next to the large house and we were freaked out. When my dad got there the next day we began tearing down the walls one by one and found 2 more rooms with nothing in them and no windows althought they were on the side of the house. We got to the corner of the house and there was a whole other staircase that went down to another very small room on the first floor. Nothing special in the rooms but it was very weird seeing all this boxed off space.

A month went by and we began tearing down wall paper on the second story. When we got to the Bible room and on the first strip we pulled down both my brother and I heard a scream that lasted around half a minute and then just stopped. We thought my mom might have come by the house and fallen so we ran around the house trying to find her. No one was there and her car was not outside also. We went to the neighbors and they heard nothing.

I still live next door to the place in the duplex but have had nothing weird happen since the scream. Alot of friends this year want to use it as a haunted house and we are probably going to do that during halloween since it is so large and the story behind it.

I can't write the stories down now, as I need sleep before school. But my family tends to have a lot of paranormal shit happen, so I've got a few goodies.

Will post them later.

I'll believe it when there is a double-blind experiment done on one or more "haunted" places like where they go on Ghost Hunters and other tv shows like that, and one or more equally creepy but unhaunted place, and it finds the "haunted" place to report more "paranormal" activity.

I hate those ghost shows. Hate them. My rooommate used to watch them all the time and I almost hated her too for watching them. Just so lame. Like the ones with Busey in them? Forget the name. Fuck, I don't believe in that stuff at all, but if you tell me this old creepy, dark place is haunted, I sure as fuck am gonna see shit that "can't be explained." There's nothing quite like good old human expectation for creating false sensory experiences, and that is likely the basis of every ghost story.

People here with experience can probably relate, though I don't expect the responses to be honest. I'll wager that people in your family/house/etc all started noticing things around the time, after one person first pointed it out.

Agree. I don't know if the shit is faked or not, but the fact that they have a pragmatic approach to everything and try to prove the sightings are nothing more then every day stuff makes the show a bit more believable.

I've seen some Ghost shows that are just terrible where every noise is a ghost and every bit of dust is an orb, whatever the hell that is.

But anyway, bring on some more ghost stories. I plan on checking this thread again tonight after a couple of beers with all the lights off in my apartment....and a flashlight on under my chin.

I've had some personal experiences that fall into the "weird shit" catagory, and I am still skeptical of alot of internet and tv stuff that is put out there.

As I kid, I had a relative whose house had paranormal activity. No one liked visiting, so we didn't often. We could hear banging on the walls, footsteps in the house, the hanging beads in one doorway would move on their own like someone walking through them. Thing that really blew my mind was seeing a dresser drawer open and a handkerchief float out the door way. Inanimate objects moving on their own is kind of a mind-fuck. Two other family member witnessed it.

More recently, My wife and I were watching TV. I was in the big chair facing her, and she was facing the tv. I asked her a question. She began to answer still facing the tv, then snapped her head to the left (looking the same direction I was), paused for about 3 seconds, and then finished answering the question. I had seen something, and was sure she did. I asked 'Did you see something?' What I saw was a black mist about 5 to 6 feet in the air, (about 2 feet long, 1 foot high) shoot through the kitchen quickly. She described what I had seen exactly. I told her I saw it too, and it freaked her out.

Is it spirits, ghosts, poltergeists, demons, Could it be SATAN?... who knows? To me, it's just weird shit that happens.

Shots & Nerion, very cool stories.
