Conservapedia

We all know reality has a liberal bias - some conservatives are now trying to fix this with a Wikipedia for Conservatives. It's mission is to "favor Christianity and America"
Main Page - Conservapedia

Article on ArsTechnica about it: Conservapedia hopes to "fix" Wikipedia's "liberal bias"

Example of the entry about Kangaroos:

Quote:
"Modern kangaroos originated in the Middle East and are the descendants of the two founding members of the modern kangaroo baramin that were taken aboard Noah's Ark prior to the Great Flood."
There is no entry for Sex or anything remotely sexual and you have gems like this:
Quote:
The vast majority of scientific studies have shown that abortion causes an increase in breast cancer
Quote:
It should be noted that these scientists are motivated by a need for grant money in their field of climatology. Therefore, their work can not be considered unbiased, though no more than any scientist in any other field .[4]. Also, these scientists are mostly liberal athiests, untroubled by the hubris that man can destroy the Earth which God gave him.[5]
I'll leave you to it - fun, times.

Aweful writing btw - full of errors and all around weird sentences.

edit: Just have to add this, from the discussion site on Evolution:

Quote:
"Many" Christians accept a lot of things, that doesn't make their position Biblical. Only God is incapable of error, and that's why this website follows God instead of the fallible beliefs of Men. You claim that this information is "factually incorrect" but you don't prove it. Besides, the founder of this website has proven, in no uncertain terms, that macroevolution (what most atheists mean when they say "evolution") is impossible. There's simply not enough time and even if there was, all mutations are harmful. The end.
"The end" really is what makes it a classic...

Retarded websites like these and backwards thinking fucktards like the people behind it are the reason there's so much tension between "conservative" and "liberal" people. Not all conservative-minded people believe the same things, and not all liberal-minded people believe the same things. All those words do now is create hostility and division.

I got more.. this is hilarious. What's the invisible hand of the market, you ask?

Quote:
The "invisible hand" is a force that ensures the highest economic prosperity in an unregulated system. When a man is looking out for himself and accomplishing his own ends he is inadvertently contributing to the invisible hand. Consider the following scenario: Joe, an average guy, wants peanut butter with which to make himself a sandwich. Bill, the grocer, wants peanuts with which to make and sell peanut butter. Frank, the farmer, grows peanuts. Frank will sell his peanuts to Bill who will make peanut butter and sell that to Joe who will make himself a sandwich. Frank and Bill have worked together and contributed towards Joe’s sandwich without even communicating! This is the essence of the invisible hand: that the economy can continue, even flourish, without government aid or interference, and do so at maximum efficiency.
Even better, the entry on gravity!

Quote:
Some have criticized gravity, reminding us that it is only a theory, and that no scientist has ever seen a graviton or a space curve. Furthermore, experiments done by NASA prove that the Moon is receding (moving further away) from the Earth at a rate of 3.8cm per year, directly contradicting the theory that masses attract one another[1]. Indeed, astronomers can observe that all stars in the universe are moving away from one another. The considerable disagreement between scientists about the theory of gravity suggests that, like evolution, the theory will eventually be replaced with a model which acknowledges God as the source of all things, the Prime Mover, and the only real fundamental force in the universe.
Speechless, just speechless...

Descartes - Conservapedia

Quote:
Descartes locked himself in a stove and meditated, arriving at the unsurprising conclusion that nothing existed. He then used Anselm's proof of the existence of God to decide that perhaps he wasn't deluded, and perhaps things did exist after all. He thought the soul lived in the pineal gland, and when you lift your arm it's just an accident because your brain doesn't control your body, God does. This 'god-robot' theory of consciousness got him into ferocious arguments with Hobbes, but then Hobbes loved a good argument and was usually wrong.
I remain speechless.

I find it amazing so many people confuse conservative values with those of religous ones.

They're religious conservatives - no worries, we know not all conservatives are as stupid as those

Following, the complete article on the atom:

Quote:
An atom is the smallest unit of chemical element that still retains the element's properties. The word atom comes from the Greek term for indivisible, átomos. There have been many ideas about how atoms may look. The current one is called the Quantum Mechanical Model(Citation Needed), and is very complex.(Citation Needed)
They need a citation that it is "very complex?"

This is a prank.

There's absolutely no way people would actually believe this kind of stuff.

...Right?

I'm not conservative( actually I'm very liberal by the standards of Conservapedia), BUT i really have to question why this site upsets anyone.

Having liberal values means an open and accepting policy of changing and foreign ideas. The values on Conservapedia are foreign and strange to me but those people are allowed to have opinions.

If these people hacked Wikipedia or regularly destabilized its information then they would be completely in the wrong.

Right now they just have a website no one cares about. Why does that piss you off?

Because they engage in revisionism... according to their section on world history, American soldiers at the beginning of the Iraq war were protected by a new type of body armor, leading to more saved lives. Of course the truth is that a great number didn't have any armor at all - which doesn't get mentioned. The entire Iraq affair is summarized in a couple sentences claiming Hussein also refused to lower the Iraq flag at the UN following 9/11. (no source, of course)

While we're at the "let's find the most extreme of a certain veiw and blow it out of proportion" I might as well mention that liberals are on the same end of hte political spectrum as NAMBLA and child molesters.
