The Science Video Thread

Not to deter from the original Video thread, I just wanted to open up a new one for this specific purpose.

Just gonna add that lately I have become fascinated by Evolutionary Biology and the Cosmos. I've always had some sort of liking to it when I was younger, but neglected it in my teens because of aspirations to be a boxer, then Renzo Gracie's academy. Enough about though, here's what I've collected so far.

Beyond Belief ('06)- 10 part series. Most notable speakers: Steven Weinberg, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Michael Shermer

Well, I'm not forcing anyone to watch them, I'm providing the links so that maybe someone who has yet to see any of these, can. I don't care either way. This is always a good reference post for myself, in case I lose a link. Oh well.

I just finished the 1st video in that 25-hour collection and while I had heard/read a lot of the ideas before, some perspectives on dealing with religiosity as an atheist or science-driven logician were very intriguing.

Anyways, even though a great number of people won't find the time or interest to look at many/any of these videos, it's an appreciated effort at consolidating them into one place for those of us that have been earnestly pursuing the subject.

As for myself, I just watch Nova and PBS in general Tuesday nights. Certaintly one of the best uses of my tax dollars.

I'm annoyed, yet intrigued, that you name-dropped Renzo Gracie here for seemingly no reason, unless you thought people from the MMA thread would click here accidentaly.

I trained under Pedro Sauer, who was Rickson Gracie's best friend and protege.

It's funny, I only caught myself after I wrote it. I think sub-consciously I feel like a bitch for having nerd-like qualities, so I over-emphasize the fact that I can fuck you up. I do it a lot in real life too. I also noticed I did it in my Sleep Paralysis thread.

What the fuck is wrong with me, I don't know.

I know the thought of educating yourself may be terrifying to you, but some of us might actually be interested in this stuff. I'll probably check out at least a couple of them. In fact this thread has probably destroyed my weeknights for the next month.
