| Your Opinion: If You could choose the 3 Next Presidents... Here is an interesting open-ended question for you political junkies that I know are lurking around here. If you could choose any 3 people in America for the next 3 presidencies, who would they be and why? They don't necesarilly have to be candidates so to speak, but have some sort of stake in the political community. I was recently asked this question by a pretty heavy client and was just curious what you all thought, as a few members here seem to have a more than a bit of knowledge and wisdom to go around! |

+29 Internets | I like Senator McCain. Good public speaker from what I've seen and he seems like a good 'center' candidate. I couldn't see myself rooting for one of the democratic candidates in 2008. From the little I've seen (I don't really follow them closely) it's all about how they never supported the war in Iraq and how they'd get all troops out of there as fast as possible. That tells me they're either just out for some cheap votes, or they really don't see or care about the consequences of pulling out at this time. The notion of "well, as soon as our guys are out of there it's no longer our problem" is a little scary. Given that McCain was a prisoner of war himself, I could imagine he'd favor policies worthy of a country priding itself with the freedoms it has. Shut down guantanamo and the outsourced prisons and get things back into a legal framework that is already designed to handle cases like this. Military judges and a jury made up of officers - if you can't tell them how you got your hands on evidence (or even show that evidence), there's something fundamentally wrong. |

| Everyone I can think of is either too fucking far left or too fucking far right. What I would want in a President is someone who A. Opposes Social Programs [Its my fucking money, get a fucking education lazy pieces of shit who require welfare and stop fucking everyone you see]. I earn 60k/year and when I watch a fuckton of it goto programs I will never see... well fuck that. I don't give a shit about the welfare of lazy ass human beings who are worthless. Yes, I am better then them. B. Isn't a Religous Nutjob C. Will finish the war in Iraq [Yes, we went in for the wrong reasons... but, its too late to pull out] D. Will get illigal immigrants out of our country. E. Will add more later, see below :| [I know there are a fuckton of spelling mistakes, I'm inbetween meetings at work and don't have time to reread to make corrections] |

+29 Internets | Colin Powell would make an excellent President, I think. I've got a lot of respect for that guy. And it would be a huge step for the US to have a black President. Ann Coulter would make an awesome President for humor purposes. |

| I'd vote for Powell. Even though I'm borderline racist, I'd vote for him because he is the best candidate our country has.

+2 Internets | Newt Gingrich POTUS, Tom Coburn VP Newt Gingrich POTUS, Tom Coburn VP Tom Coburn POTUS, Mike Pence VP Considering they may be the only remaining true conservatives left in politics, my list to choose from was rather small. Outside of those three, the current parties are: The Far Right The Left The Far Left The Marxist Left Moderate right of center has all but disappeared in the political arena, even if it represents what likely 60-70% of the nation actually thinks. Basically, if you aren't Ann Coulter or a daily poster on democraticundergroun/dailyKos, nobody in government honestly represents what you want, on either side.
